Wlad/Peter 2

??? I haven't said he is unbeatable. And when was he "knocked the **** out"? As far as I remember he got up from every knockdown in his career.

Purrity - he was 22 years old, almost 10 years ago, does hardly say anything about todays Wlad. Sanders was a bad-style matchup for him, but Peter isn't anything like Sanders, Peter isn't able to put together short fast punches like Sanders, he telegraphs his wild hayemakers. Brewster was outboxed from pillow to post until Wlad broke down, unlikely this will happen again. BTW it's telling you don't count Wlad's win against Peter as "overcoming adversity" and I agree with that assessment, Peter is too skillfree for that.

Rabbit punches are legal nowadys? Then I think I follow the wrong sport and btw Peter rabbit-punched Wlad when he was oin his knee, which is disqualification material above all else. There was nothing competative in this fight when Peter wasn't able to foul.

 

Getting stopped by the referee on your feet is hardly the same as being "knocked the **** out".

 

Well, Peter sounds like a complete nutcase in interviews of his that i have seen. He insisted that he slipped, against McCline. Maybe his IQ is too low to realise that he has less chance now.

Anyway, apart from the confidence factor, i think Wlad has improved a lot while Peter hasn't. I mean, he showed a lot of improvement between Toney I and Toney II, but let's face it, throwing double jabs etc against a defensive, fat 5'9 Toney is different from good footwork having 6'6 superheavyweight with top end power. I think going for broke like he did in their first fight gives him a better (puncher's) chance than trying to box Wladimir.

 

Yeah, and that was ridiculous. Wlad hit Brewster with something like 15 jabs and 10 powershots.... all flush. Brewster has a great chin and heart, but one half-jab/left hook that temporarily put Wlad off balance does not make up for 25 clean shots taken.

As for Roy, he was a very good commentator, but his ego comments were pretty stupid. He was the one who ran from Lewis and the Klitschko's to be KO'd by Tarver moments later. Now i can fully understand why he went down, but he shouldn't run his mouth like that. At least Foreman made clear that he wanted no part of a few fighters when he was champ in the 90's.

I'm not sure Peter wins on March 8th, I think his opponent hits harder than McCline.

 

Most people have Wladimir ranked 1st & Peter 4th or 5th behind Chagaev & Ibragimov but ahead of Valuev.

 

Exactly. Punisher imagines a points victory for Peter? I see Wladimir beating Peter within 4 or 5 rounds with many knockdowns along the way. It will be brutal, highlight reel material.

 

Valuev is a joke and may not be fighting Chagaev. I think he may lose his elimination bout as his opponent has experience fighting big guys (i.e Briggs) and will be up for this as he has to get back into contention.

 

That version of Toney went on to look bad against a journeyman named Batchelder (?) who many thought beat James.
