If Wlad goes ont o beat Tony Thompson, Alexander Povetkin and the WBA titleholder (whether it be Chagaev/Valuev) before the end of teh year do you think he would be in with a shout for 2008 fighter of the year ??
I and the majority of the world dont even know who Thomson is so I doubt that win would do much for him. Povetkin isnt a big name and doesnt look anywhere near to being a challenger of particular quality. These are Audley Harrison [before the losses] type fighters, they are just waiting to lose as soon as they step up.
Mybe if every other boxer on the face of the planet retires. Wlad could win every this year and the next and he still will not be the fighter of the year.
Povetkin and Chagaev would give him a shout for sure. If Manny Pac beats JMM and Juan Diaz(even though I don't give him a prayer in the latter) then he deserves it. Even if he does only fight twice.
