Oh stop acting like a dumb a$$ because lewis vs Tyson is nothing like wlad vs povetkin at all. Wlad clinch Povetkin and lean on Povetkin was way more then Lewis did to Tyson and Did vs Tua. Vs Tua, Lewis was moving away having his right gloves up to avoid Tua favorite punch the left hook. Sure Lewis does hold and Lean as well but he doesn't do way way way too much like Wlad does. Hell Lewis been in way better great fights then Wlad has.

there was nothing legal about what wlad was doing. excessive holding is against the rules.

thankfully he had his ref in his backpocket

Against Huck he showed the same style of bending really low. It probably is a good defensive posture for him but at the same time not a good offensive one. So Vladmir made sure he was not going to gain a better offensive posture by being on top of him.

More like it is a place for people who are upset to ***** and complain because Wlad won. Had Povetkin made Wlad's face look like he was in a car wreck and knocked him down four times with the same EXACT tactics people would be posting what an exciting fight it was and a great victory and how good it is for the Division etc. :rofl:patsch

Wlad was totally responsible for the excessive holding and clinching. He was even looking to clinch when he didn't have to. Nobody wants to watch Wlad, and he is the heavyweight champion of the world. Todays heavies are terrible.

Wlad fought dirty, and it was disgusting to watch. He held, held and hit, sat all of his weight on Povetkin, and he had a dirty ref who allowed that crap. Every chance he got, he put his weight on Pov's neck, held him down, held him in a headlock, and at times threw him down. It was disgusting to watch. The fight was barbaric. No skill was shown yesterday by Wlad. Rough house tactics that he was allowed to get away with.

Don't point to Wlad's color, or say Ward does the same thing.

Wlad fought dirty, and you all saw that bull****. Wlad is the hvw champion of the world, and the clown fought like an amateur.

Wilder would knock his ass out if he fought like he did last night.

Wlad looked easy to hit, and that is why he held so much. Wlad is old, and he is at the end of his rope. It's just a matter of time. Wlad doesn't want to even block shots anymore, and he can't fight inside. Right now all Wlad is, is jab, right hand, grab your neck, push you down, throw you around. He's a bum now, and last night showed it.

I agree with you that the yesterday's fight was AWFUL imo. But Wilder is not ready for Wlad yet. He needs more time to fully come into his own. By then, who knows.

It was the same ref from Huck-Povetkin.

Live by the ref, die by the ref.

After round 2 all I was watching for was who was responsible for the clinch each time. Povetkin's did a crap job on the inside as he was breathing heavy about 30 seconds in. Klitscho initiated about 75 percent of the clinches, I mean there were times he was blatantly bear hugging him on the way in. The ref should retire he is the worst I've ever seen. Worst fight ever happily that should be it for klit on American TV. Write to hbo and tell them we do not want our subscription dollars to go on farce fights like this.

He was coming in low because, as the picture shows, he was clearly attempting to slip under Wlad's jab to get on the inside. He even said before the fight that there are 5 or 6 different ways to slip the jab and he's been working on all of them.

I suppose what he should have also done was learn how to avoid getting hugged to death once you manage to slip the jab.

I've said it before, that it was a matter of styles, but it doesn't excuse Wlad for holding excessively. There are clearly times where he could have capitalized on Povetkins rush ins by setting up counters, but lo and behold Wlad decides to take the safety first approach while also tiring his opponent out. Wlad didn't attempt to use a check hook once, did he?

Saying Povetkin initiated is like saying any smaller fighter who tries to get inside (which is what they should be doing against such a tall boxer) is to blame for clinching. I guess they should just stay on the outside and fight Wlad's game so he can comfortably jab them to death? Otherwise they get clinched 2000 times and it's their fault? :patsch There's a reason Wlad had points deducted in this fight and the Haye fight.

    Exactly.

It breaks my heart how stupid some of you guys are about a sport you supposedly watch.

Povetkin did last night was pretty much the only thing he could do. He just hoped to get lucky with a looping shot while coming in for the dive bomb to Wlad's chest.

Any other strategy and Wlad just kills him and negates any possibility of a lucky shot.
