I know. Anyone who thinks the fight would do anything in Dallas is having a laugh. It's not a boxing market at all and there would be no attention for Haye and Klitschko. Anyone who thinks Texans would turn up to fill, presumably, a 50,000 seat arena to see an "Limey" and a "Russkie" is deluded. German fans don't ever travel, so you'd be left with a few thousand British fans sat there, stuck out like a sore thumb in an otherwise empty arena.
This is true. The only chance for the heavyweight title getting back onto American TV, is if Haye is the dominant champion. HBO won't back Wlad or Vitali again and the brothers are the sole reason the network has dropped heavyweight boxing entirely. Showtime aren't interested and even ESPN will only show their fights online. What HBO want is Haye holding the titles. I think the idea is for Haye to fight in Vegas and then GBP can show him how much money is there for him. It's the best way to make him delay his retirement, because otherwise, he'll retire after winning. If GBP can show him the money, HBO will back Haye and that's how the business works. It's clear what the reason is for GBP wanting the fight in Vegas. It's funny though because GBP are the ones negotiating for Haye and they will desperately want the fight in Vegas. A few days later and Boente says "Absolutely not in Vegas", despite Wlad earlier saying he'd fight Haye anywhere.
The fight should be either in Germany or England. Having these two Europeans fighting in America is silly imo.
Vegas is overrated. Before King and Arum came along the biggest boxing fights were in the stadiums not casinos. I don't get this obsession with MGM grand - its the fighters not location that makes it bigtime
Marquez v katsidis, pac v clottey, khan v maidana, adamek v briggs, darchinyan v mares, lopez v marquez...americans?
I doubt MSG would be interested. The fallout from the Ibragimov fight was enormous and they won't rush to have another Klitschko fight there. Not only did it kill Wlad's chances of conquering America, it pushed away MSG, HBO and America altogether. There's no interest in America at all for a Wlad bout, without Haye as his opponent.
HBO is bery behind Vitali they want an Adameck fight for March. Had the highest rating of the year for WCB against Arreola. Also when he fought Kirk Johnson..
I said THESE two Europeans. Their fanbases are in the UK and Germany. Marquez has an American fan base. Pac has an American fan base. Khan has an American fan base (not as big as UK but Goldenboy want him to the next superstar in the US.) Both Lopez and Marquez have American fanbases. Adamek has an American fanbase. Mares has an American fanbase. Americans make up the majority of the fans of the fighters you have mentioned. They don't make up the majority of fans of Haye and Wlad. You missed my point completely.
They showed every Arreola fight. The fact the fight was a success is down to the Latino community, not Vitali. If they show the Adamek fight, it's because they want Adamek to win, no question. That makes sense though, as Adamek is a draw in America whereas Vitali isn't. The Johnson fight turned people away. HBO too, I'd imagine, seeing as they've not shown him since then.
I'm not surprised by this. Also celebrities showed up for his fight againt Arreola. Wlad on the other hand has no draw, but he's also not half the fighter Vitali is.
MSG an Staple center was sold out or near capacity 5 times by the brothers, vs lewis, sanders, areola, sultan, kirk johnson. Who ever dosn't think can sell out, does not know boxing public well when it comes to the brothers, are they going sell out over night, NO, but there are not many who can. They could sell out 20,000 seat without hayes, they did it with sultan, but how much more then that in the USA, i don't know. Truth is wlad hasn't fought in the US for a while, he used to fight here, it seemed like once a year, when he stopped doing that, he began to lose fan base, he hasn't fought here for 3 years, not good, hard to pull in fans that way.
