I hate the excuse of his fiancee's depression. The man had ten years of dominance and overcame much more serious emotional problems, such as at least one parents death. His wife's mental state had NOTHING to do with the result. Fury's style had everything to do with it, and possibly Wlad's age. AJ is a completely different style than fury, though, which helps makes this fight so unknowable
Who are you to say his wifes mental problems had no affect on him. Having a parent die would actually make him feel more motivated to win in honour of their death. But fighting while his wife is suicidal and not knowing if she will hang herself by the time he finishes his fight would no doubt have affected him mentally.
Vlad _Joshua is interesting because AJs stile is nothing like furys .AJ is all wam bam this has worked so far and may work against vlad if it doesn't what happens can he do something different? can he change mid fight .Aj is very strong but I don't think e is a huge punching fighter he tend to take people out with a series of heavy clubbing blows that normally brings the the ref to his opponents aid rather than taken someone out with a single shot. his chin is also unknown in the pros he has been stopped in the amateurs so who knows what will happen?.Vlad is ageing but can still hit .should be interesting.
Yeah, but with Lewis being champion and Vitali a late-notice challenger, the general feeling among many fans was that Vitali had earned himself a rematch. He did better than expected against the champ. Now, if Wlad scrapes past AJ and retires, I think people are more likely to be forgiving, since he's an old challenger. It will be HIM who did better than expected against the champ. Nevermind if people say he got lucky with the win, he's not expected to do that well. In that sense, he's taking on the Vitali role. It will be the young champ AJ who "blew it" against a guy he was favoured to beat. Even if he was "unlucky" with the loss people will say he shouldn't have been in the position to allow such a result, people are expecting more from him. That's the way I see it anyway. I believe pre-fight expectations always play a hand in post-fight reactions.
Good point. Rematch controversy aside though, it would be interesting to see the shoe on the other foot as far as actual in fight qualities and controversy
