If Fury can get inside of Wlad's jab and fight out of the clinch then this will be his best shot to win the fight. For me, it is getting inside of Wlad's jab and not letting him set the pace and distance of the fight. He needs to be a moving target and not just stand still in front of Wlad. Maybe try and time Wlad's jab with his own then come in with the back hand (depending which stance he is fighting out if at the time). Once inside he has no real reason to worry about shots coming his way. He just needs to deal with Wlad tying him up. As i said earlier, Wlad only punches when comfortable. He rarely, if ever, throws counters or punches when his opponent punches.
My breakdown is this fight goes the distance. Fury starts well and fast using his jab and peppers wlads face up until the 4th, wladmir regains some ground by landing some heavy shots on fury but doesn't put him down or in any trouble. the clinches will be every 6seconds, fury will the exchanges inside and show his strength. by the 9th its a close fight about dead even on the score cards, fury then gets back to boxing rather than trying to hurt wlad and wins the 10 and 11th. klitchko wins the 12th due to fury showboating and not doing much else. its a win by fury 7-5 in neutral grounds, that reads 9-3 to klitchko on all 3 scorecards. robbery.
I'm not sure if Fury can take Wlad's shots for 12 rounds, but i don't think his chin is that bad. The KD's he has suffered have been from big, winging, wound up punches that he didn't see coming. Those punches said more about how open Fury was when attacking than it did about his punch resistance, for me. Wlad's straight right you can see coming. It's a tremendous thudding shot, but one that tends to wear opponents down due to the opponent seeing it coming. For me, the left hook is more of the danger punch.
you've just hit the nail on the head. Fury gets hit by overhand rights by smaller men often when hes squared up. he gets put on his ass or has to go back in his shell. I don't see the straight right hand doing as much as damage on fury and will avoid it or block it. Lennox lewis threw a mean overhand right, wladmirs punches are straighter than an arrow. the angle of which the punch is thrown and delivered is very important.
Not sure if i can see it going the distance with Fury winning even if he gets the decision or not. Fury isn't a big puncher, but Wlad's chin is awful. We forget sometimes due to his dominance, but the reality is he barely gets hit. For Fury to "win" he would have to hit Wlad more then he himself is hit and he would probably be stopped if that were the case.
he will hit wlad a lot, furys very good stamina will see him good to go the 12th. now the thing is does he hit hard enough to stop wlad, does he hit harder than tony Thompson :think he has better stamina and is more aggressive that's for sure, often that can get you a stoppage over punch power.
Thompson and Fury probably have similar power, but Fury's stanima is better, as you pointed out, so he probably carries more pop later on. Also, Fury has a better shot selection and is less predictable than Thompson so he could hit Wlad with some shots that he is less prepared for. Thompson also fights at a pedestrian pace. In this fight i expect there to be bouts of cautious, tactical sizing up, but, there will also be bouts of Fury giving it a go so stanima could be an issue for Wlad as he may be forced to fight at a pace that he is not controlling, which is rare in a Wlad fight.
