Do you think Peter's poor showing today will make it more likely that Wlad will give Peter a rematch in the near future? I think Wlad would be supremely confident in giving Peter a good beating.

it's certainly lost its luster. like many, i thought this was the best available matchup in the division but not any more. peter just has too big of an ego, lacks the dedication, and may have been physically damaged by wlad already. the best fight available is wlad vs. (insert another beltholder)

I know I won't watch it because it'll **** me off big time. Peter would get knocked out early, the punches he took in the first fight were more than enough to ruin his ability to take big shots. His chin isn't "glass" but it isn't as good as it used to be, it also MIGHT be bad preparation. Let's face it, Peter was getting ready for Maskaev then instantly replaced with a bigger/taller McCline in just a few weeks, and Peter doesn't look in good shape AT ALL, nothing like how he appeared against Toney in the rematch, more like his appearance against Toney in the first fight. Being lazy like that and only preparing hard for fights he wants to prepare hard for won't get him anywhere. I'm still his fan though and he remains my #1 Heavyweight for sure, still have hope for him but rather not see the Wladimir rematch anytime soon, nor do I think Don King will allow it. I'm watching the fight as I type, end of round 2 now going into round 3 so I can't really comment enough about the fight yet, just on his shape.

That's the big problem here and it looks as though it will remain. If he took Toney serious enough to train the way he did for the rematch then why wouldn't a championship fight?, this was shocking to be honest even though he's victorious.

Would Peter be put in the ring with Chagaev or Ibragimov? For me it is hard to see how that will happen

    IF...Peter controls his ego
    IF...Peter gets a new trainer
    IF...Peter gets in shape
    IF...Peter re-dedicates

    He might be good

totally agree. even worse, this is really bad for the hw division. peter was seen as the only legit threat to wlad at the moment. now wlad seems to be the man by default :patsch he's just got to find a way to unify. bribe them, send them hookers, call them out whatever

From the looks of things I guess Peter is the next JT of ESB.

Wladimir can knock Peter out without question if he commits to it more than he did the first time around. In the first fight Wlad was just a tad bit cautious. You know.. I knew Peter was going to get exposed by McCline, but in a way in kind've sucks because Peter's handlers without question are going to duck a Wlad rematch, so we can forget about ever seeing a unification between the two. If you get rocked by feather-fisted McCline that puts a big ass question mark around your chin.

Hell, Toney hurt Peter in their first fight. Toney, a fat, old middleweight who did not bother to train in either fight. Toney beat Peter in the first fight. The judges were a disgrace tonight.

i don't think wlad was ever afraid of peter after the first time they fought. giving peter a rematch was just a business decision, and as long as sam brought nothing to the table, wlad had no reason to waste his time with him.

Maskev is about 6'3". He's a big man too. Peter got cracked. He got up and won because Mccline was too old and comming off an injury.
