Later on in the Ibragimov fight, Wlad had moments when he turned his punch volume down alot.

No, Povetkin will try everything like Gatti.

I think the changing of the guard is coming soon and Wlad needs a ****in rival and hopefully Povetkin will be it.

I find these arguments that so and so woudln't even be a contender/belt holder in this era. Or they are all bums now or so on quite pointless, because neither side can ever say anything that can or will ever convince the other side of their argument. It is all speculation, and in reality pointless.

I still say with a nutritionist, a wieghts coach, about 5-10 more fights focusing on developing some sort of defense, Povetkin would be a tough fight for anyone.

The combos, workrate, variety of punches, and natural stamina are terrific.

Unfortunatly, alex seems to have regressed lately.

For example: Wlad vs. Ray Mercer.

yea I realized that Mercer won a gold as well. so the last 5 that i can think of are:

    Ali- Foreman
    Ali-Frazier
    Lewis-Mercer
    Wlad-Mercer
    and now
    Wlad-Povetkin

Yeah, but when you're just not good enough to compete or match WALD, you'll be stuck out there on the end of a one sided, boring, jab-snoozefest.

Both Chagaev and Povetkin would rough up Jerry Quarry and many from the Joe Louis era. Besides the superstars in past eras, there were also numerous contenders who would not even be cruiser champs today.

Clearly by extrapolation, you could add Foreman-Fraizer to that list.

    Fraizer-Ali
    Foreman-Fraizer
    Ali-Foreman
    Wlad-Mercer
    and now
    Wlad-Povetkin

Sorry to bust your bubble but if Chambers was landing easy shots on Povetkin, just imagine what Wlad will do. Also Povetkin's left eye was almost closed when he fought Chambers. Wlad is even more skilled Chambers, has a better workrate, and hits harder. Unless Povetkin's improves his defense, I don't see Povetkin beating Wlad.
