Wlad v The "Tall Pine " 20rds

i say the latter but i am not to filled with willard knowledge so dont mind being told i am way off .i see wlad jabbing and obviously backing up quickly with arms flailing in panic if willard comes forward aggressively .as the fight progresses wlad for me is in control due to his jab and slowly begins to inflict punishment on willard and after the 11th begins to throw powerful right hands after his jabs and wins by ko in the last three rounds of the fight

 

Willard's stamina wouldn't be an issue. He would fall asleep standing up around the 12th like Chambers did and Wlad would knock him over and go home.

 

Wlad would dice him to pieces...

 

Willard was a hilariously bad boxer in the footage I've seen. Wladimir would massacre him. And I dislike the Klitschkos

Sorry, but it's a horrible boxing match. Flailing arms, clinch, then repeat.

 

Wlad would beat him to a pulp with one of the hardest jabs the division has seen. Corner stoppage around round 10.

 

In all seriousness, Willard did have some skills that are to be appreciated, but I do feel that he was probably one of the least technically advanced of all the heavyweight champions.. I don't see him beating anyone of great significance in their primes, and even some of the smaller greats like Floyd Patterson, Ezzard Charles, etc,, would have my vote to triumph over him... Jess came along during a time where he was a big fish in a small pond, and did not have to beat a prime title holder, nor face very many quality contenders to be crowned champion...

 

I can envision Willard winning in a Ross Puritty situation (of course that was an inexperienced Wladimir), with Klitschko pummeling the durable and defensive-minded Willard, perhaps having trouble dealing with Willard in the clinches, and in the process punching himself out in a 20 round fight. However I'd very much favour Wladimir to score a TKO here, too accurate of a puncher for Willard to avoid taking punishment against.

Willard had a disappointing reign and can only blame the Dempsey fight on himself. Not too many fighters coming off 3 years of inactivity and nearing 40 years of age could have taken on that Dempsey, except perhaps Vitali "the modern Jess Willard", but at the same time Willard should have taken on the likes of Fulton, Wills and Langford during the 3 year layoff. Thus I don't rate him among the best heavyweights. He had a chance to prove himself but he seemed more interested in being a circus performer than a fighting champion.

 

That's something I have never really understood... Both Willard and Dempsey had extended leaves of abscence from defending their titles, which is surprising, given the money that they could have made in the ring... Sure, there might have been some fights that were less than lucrative, but surely, Willard could have made a lot more money in title defenses than being in a rodeo or circus..
