Have to go with Vitaly mid to late rounds KO.
Wlads strengths over his brother are obvious but so are his weaknesses. He’d crumble under pressure like he always did and go down while not even really hurt.

Yes, he was mentally tougher than Wlad.

What are you referring to though, when you say that he lacked Wlad's ambition?

Wlad wanted to win and achieve more. He had 5 belts, and he still wanted to be champion in age 41, challenged AJ to win his belts back. We know his press conferences, how ambitious he was. He chased his opponents to claim their belts and did it. He was close to unify the division, if it weren't his brother Vitali. He ruled the division for a decade. Vitali didn't do those.

Agree with most of this, and even the point I disagree it's not completely
But Vitali had a good defence, he just abandoned it against Lewis (the only top HW he faced)

Vitali was crippled by injuries and had to have multiple surgeries.

He first retired in 2004 and was out for 4 years before coming back.

It was nothing to do with a lack of ambition.

If not for injuries, Vitali may have fought another 20 plus fights in his career.

Wlad was actually fortunate that Vitali was out for a prolonged period. Otherwise, he'd hever have reigned for that 10 year period.

He gave up his defence against Lewis because it did not work.

It didnt work against Sanders either. A fight he simply won due to a superior output and gastank.

He mostly fought short plodders like Wilder do these days.

Vitali always found a way to **** the bed. At least Wlad had the balls to go out on his shield

According to Wlad last time they sparred, Vitali broke Wlad's leg, (I assume this was when they were both still kick boxing) and their mother made them promise they'd never fight each other again.

I always rated Vitali over Wlad. Wlad's the better athlete and has better fundamentals, but Vitali is better at the more subtle and advanced skills of boxing. His lateral movement is better, his head movement is better, he counter punches, he throws more, no stamina issues, better chin, greater variety. Vitali KO's Wlad, he was simply better.

There’s no winners when you fight your brother, apart from the plasterer getting paid to fix the brother shaped whole in the living room wall, I know I’ve been there.

yes though to be fair, i tihnk he would have preferred not have fought the multiple middlers he lost to, had he known they werent deadbeats.

Don't know when Vitali's prime exactly was, but Wlad's was definitely in his mid 30's.

It's his counter-punching that edges it for me too.

Wlad is more refined at what he does and carries more power.

But Vitali is a natural fighter and does instinctively the things that are harder to teach.
