Bowe had a good jab (when he chose to use it) but he was very sloppy defensively at range, which is where Wlad does 99% of his work. Bowe did struggle against opponents who stayed on the outside but Wlad has struggled with big, durable guys who put him under pressure so I dont think there a big stylistic advantage for either Bowe or Wlad.

Prime Bowe was mobile enough to close the distance & tough enough to survive a few shots to get off his own. I'd give Wlad the edge in one shot power but Bowe had a wider variety of punches & threw better combinations.

At close range I think Wlad wont be able to just clinch & lean on as he wont enjoy a significant size or strength advantage. Bowe was a refined infighter & could also be very rough & dirty at times, he would be too much for Wlad to handle imo.

Bowe vs Wlad: Wlad would be very cautious & win the early rounds but sooner or later Bowe would hurt him, maybe with an overhand right hand over one of Wlads jabs. Once he had him hurt I think Bowe would bust him up & stop him.

    Bowe tko 7

  2. Bowe for me, pretty much any version from about the Tubbs fight onwards, up to and including the Golota fights.

Wlad is brilliant at what he does, he's tall, got long arms and has good punches that are hard and accurate, but Riddick just has the answer for all of that.

He's equally tall and long, punches hard enough to put Wlad to sleep and can take Wlad's shots. Klitschko gets a lot of breathers by leaning on his opponents to wear them out, and because none of them are particularly good inside fighters or can land uppercuts he can get away with it.

Bowe's uppercut was murderous, and he'd love nothing more than Wlad trying to lean on him for a rest.

It's just a fight that Wlad can't realistically win.

It's Bowe's inside game that wins it for him here IMO. If they're closely matched with their jabs, Wlad's clinch and stall heavy game will see him play into Riddick's hands here IMO. He'll bang him to the body to set up that uppercut.

Not guaranteed though, Bowe was hittable and if Wlad can get off a big shot at some point I think he has the force to hurt a durable, but not infallible guy like Bowe. But Wlad is a fighter who has had to work hard to instill confidence in himself and his approach. With a man with the jab of Bowe to offset his I fear he might unravell. Bowe by stoppage, at some point IMO.

Good fight, but Bowe has more tools to win and the size to get him into the fight in the first place. On his best day he's miles better than a Tony Thompson.

  4. Bowe was good for one night and everyone thinks, on the back of that, that he was some amazing champion.

He got bashed up, twice, by Golota for **** sake and was hurt, albeit breifly, by a Crusierweight in the form of Herbie Hide.

    Wlad by late stoppage... EASILY.

The key...too tough and too rough.

Coupled with the size of Bowe then he gonna walk through Wlad....im talking on there best nights that is.

Just out of interest, why do you mention Thompson? I've read a few people claim the fight was a lot closer than cards suggest. Did you mention him because you're of the same opinion or is there some other reason?

hmmmmmm by the Golota fights he was past it, its like me qouting the Purrity fight for Wlad....this on there best nights-

Bowe destroyed Ferguson and Dokes who are on the levels of Chagaev, Thompson, Peter guys that Wlad takes an age to beat.

Wlad was shocking against a past it Rahman too, in reality Wlad best performances have been scattered...2006 Byrd, 2009 Chagaev, 2010 Chambers and 2012 Haye.

    Bowe best stuff was 1992-1994-

Baaaaad style match up for Wlad.

  10. Golota was a far better opponent than anyone Wlad has faced.

Plus, Bowe was always in there in both fights - sure he took a beating, but there's a bit of revisionist history going on here IMO.

Agreed, in fact one of the worst in history...Wlad would have a better time with Ali than he would with Bowe.

I think Golota was a better fighter than Wlad. Certainly better stylistically against Bowe.

problem with golota is he imploded mentally, golota outboxes wlad round after round then gets frustrated and fouls out...that what id see, Wlad dosent come out swinging like Tyson, Lewis and Brewster did, but i reckon Wlads make it to the 9th, 10th and Golota quits.
