Skillwise this looks like an easy Wladimir-win, but prime Bruno could both give and take a punch, plus he had a very good jab. Would be interesting to see, if Wlad could dominate him in a jab contest and run away all night. If he´s not able, it could be lights out for Wlad. This is not a sure thing.
What's interesting is how much better Bruno is than every single other contender out there at the moment - you have the brothers, and at #3 you have Chagaev who is not able to provide competition. Bruno is favourite to beat Povetkin, Haye, Gomez etc., with Chagaev the only guy outside of those two who would be Ruslan who would be tough stylisticly for Frank. Bruno would be a serious challenge for Wlad, the Bruno that extended Lewis would give Wlad a torrid time indeed.
Bruno would knock Wlad spark out. he has a better jab, can take a better punch, although he didn't like pressure just as Wlad doesn't. But Bruno hits harder IMO, and is less of a coward than Wlad (when it comes to freaking out under pressure)
He does not hit harder, he is over rated British legend. Bruno would lose Jab competition clearly and fades in later rounds.
He had a better KO percentage, against better fighters. I know you Klit-ites love those KO percentage stats :deal
Snooze-prodding-jab-fest for 10 rounds with both fighters getting slightly hurt during the course of the fight, and Wlad KOs him in the championship rounds.
No, because he was unfortunate enough to have been around when Witherspoon, Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield etc were around. People will remember the other British legend Lennox Lewis instead, I'm sure as a Klit-ite you remember who he is
Ya' but getting TKO'd by James Smith :yikes and Tim Witherspoon didn't bode well for a fight with mighty Wlad. He would have been crushed, and early, No contest.IMHO.:bbb
good fighter with out a doubt. but I think his reputation is based somewhat giving Lennox some fits and throwing mighty uppercut to Tysons head and surviving there couple of rounds. IMO Lennox was not at all in his best that fight. As style wise Bruno would not be that big threat for Wlad. It would be battle of straight hands Wlad winning it eventually.
Tim Witherspoon was a very good fighter. Also, both Bonecrusher and Terrible Tim would beat Ross Purritty, Lamon Brewster and Corrie Sanders. And while Wlad has improved since then, Bruno improved a lot in the late 1980s and early 1990s, peaking around 1993 in his fight with Lewis.
Bruno didn't just have a straight-right hand; he had a very good overhand right and left-hook. Also, I think Wlad's great left-hook is a bigger factor in this fight. When you have two big punchers with questionable durability throwing long left-hooks, anything can happen.
