    If one was a former champion, and the other was mis-managed, but had good outings leading up to the title fight, I think fans would accpet it.

    Holmes made 20 title defenses. Not all of them could be vs top rated guys. Holmes fought Leon Spinks to distance himself from Ali, and the Weaver vs Holmes fight was a very good one.
