July 2 will be for the Haye fight, but Wladimir is not willing to wait nine months for his next fight. He wants to do the Chisora fight. We have no problem with Haye doing another fight inbetween. Our deadline was always tomorrow to inform Frank Warren about Chisora." According to Boente, the date of April 30 was a workable venue date, and it worked for RTL, but Sky Sports was not willing to do two pay-per-views in the same month. Sky has a pay-per-view scheduled on April 16, with Amir Khan defending the WBA 140-pound title. The opponent has not been finalized for Khan. The British network refused to accommodate Klitschko-Haye. Sky was unwilling to move Khan's fight to another date. There were no dates in May or June that worked for both networks. The first available date, that works for both networks, and a potential venue - is July 2. Both sides have a tentative agreement to fight on the July date
Booth told Sky Sports News: "There were lots of people that know Wladimir really didn't want this fight yet. It's a shame. It's embarrassing for boxing that the unification fight isn't going to happen now because David's bent over backwards. We've conceded to every single ridiculous demand they made. "From the start they said 50-50. David said fine, even though potentially we're putting in the pot three or four times more than they're putting into the pot because of pay-per-view Sky Box Office. David still said 'let's get the fight done 50-50'. "They said the fight had to be on their German broadcaster even though our German broadcaster was prepared to pay more. We said fine. They said 'we're not coming to England for the fight'. David said 'fine, I'll go to Germany'. They said Wladimir has to be in the red corner, Wladimir has to come in second, Wladimir's name has to be first on the poster and all these other ridiculous, egotistical things, and David said 'fine, have it, just get him in the ring with me'. "The last thing was, here is the date we now have [July 2], we said yes, Sky have approved that date and they turn round and say 'we're now doing Chisora'. Wladimir should feel ashamed of himself."
sky have been royal idiots here. khan vs peterson wont sell well, especially comapared to haye v wlad in april. and they wouldnt put on same card or same month?.idiots. understand wlad taking tune up,dont see why haye didnt sign and allow tune up while he gets rid of his mandatory or has a US fight debut. hoping that the date is kept for haye v wlad and once they both have a fight,or after wlad ruins chisora that it can be finally f*ckin signed!.
We had to get clearance on a date with Sky TV for pay per view in the UK and they we were concerned about conflicting with the upcoming Royal Wedding. So the wedding is set for the end of April and we got clearance on a fight date of July 2, for sure." Wladimir, who turns age 35 on March 25, said he intends to fight another British challenger, lightly-regarded Dereck Chisora, before the tangles with hard-hitting but lantern-jawed Haye. "I will fight Chisora on an April date, in Germany," Klitschko said. "Then we will move foreward with Haye." The Chisora-WKlit title bout, with Wlad's IBF and WBO belts on the line, will still go on in Mannheim, where it had been originally slated for Dec. 11.
where is the problem, there was no fight possible till july the second. so wlad will beat the **** out of chisora without even getting punched and then will move on to haye on 2 july. wlad is the real man!!! he is always active, tries to fight 3 times a year and fights anyone. BIG RESPECT
I guess the problem would be the fights are 8 weeks apart. Anything could happen to put the fight in ruins. A cut or injury. How do you promote a PPV when it could be cancelled?
