Wlad vs. Oquendo on April 6?

Oquendo was the victim of bad judging several times, including his IBF world title fight against Byrd. He should have won against Byrd, Toney, and Mormeck, and his losses to Holyfield and McCall are also questionable.

Fres would have been a decent opponent for Wladimir during the years from 2003 to about 2008, but he's old now.

It's difficult to believe Wlad would fight Oquendo at this time.

 

It would be a step down coming off Chagaev, Chambers, Peter or Haye - but it's a lateral move from Mormeck, Thompson II, and Wach. :deal

 

Oquendo has been on the bad end of some robberies but even then this fight is pathetic

 

We probably don't have to worry about Oquendo getting robbed here. :yep

 

If this fight takes place, it proves that Wlad ducked Toney all those years.

Anyone have footage of the arlovski exhibition?

 

Nope. There is footage of them sparring (pretty competitively), but not of the charity exhibition in which Andrei supposedly knocked him cold.

 

He wasn't even ranked by the WBA last year. Deontay Wilder could fight the guy and people be still saying he hasn't sepped up in competition.

 

Why is there no video of the Oquendo - Arlovski exhibition match? And why does a top 15 boxer get knocked out against a glass jawed MMA fighter?

 

Well, they are rumored to have sparred together numerous times so maybe after getting so many looks Arlovski figured him out in a way no pro opponent could?

Also, Pitbull does have power. His glass jaw is irrelevant; it isn't like Fres was going to crack it. :yep

To be fair, he got unlucky in a few iof his bigger fights. Lost some very close decisions.

He's been knocked out cold once, in a charity exhibition match which he might not have been taking all that seriously. (especially since he'd logged hours of uneventful light sparring with his opponent...and the fact that it was for charity, FFS :yep)


I do think Wladimir puts him to sleep - and no, it won't count for as much as had it happened a decade ago - but it will still go down a somewhat notable achievement since it'll be the first time it's ever been done to Oquendo in a sanctioned pro bout.
