UNLESS you are being ripped off and the fight is not PPV worthy.

the venue is fine. povetkin and wlad have basically fought their entire careers there. I don't know much about the current animosity between Ukraine and Russia but i've read Russian posters call the klitschkos "traitors" etc....better it's in a neutral site and germany is fair especially when nationalism is feeding the fight. If they fought in Ukraine or Russia, it would open it up for 'skullduggery' and all kinds of bs.

Chef said wlad tried to get the fight in the US at MSG and staples but the nba and nhl seasons made that impossible. Los Angeles has a pretty large Russian and Ukranian population. would have been great. vitali fought here against lennox and sanders resulting in huge turnouts.

hopefully, once wlad starches povetkin he can get a fight here against valuev, eh :thumbsup

pleazeeeeeeeeeeeee, basing predictions on this fight off his losses is a stretch at best. Wlad is a far more intelligent boxer. He has learned to slow his pace and fight effectively for 12 rounds and not try to bomb out guys in the 4 or 5 rounds.

More importantly, he has learned to use his feet to control distance and tempo very well. thirdly, if you watch his fights since the Peter fight, he has learned how to clinch and use his body to wear down the opponent something lennox mastered under steward. he lacked all theses attributes in all 3 losses.

Povetkin does not have heavy hands like sanders either. the best prediction from povetkin fans has followed the brewster fightplan...basically take a shitload of punishment til wlad gasses and tips over from povetkin's pressure. That's not a good gameplan against a massive puncher :yep :yep

Kobe I know you're a huge Klitschko fan but you cannot simply ignore his losses as the mental lapses in at least one of them can come up again. This is also the first time since Sanders that Klitschko will fight someone with better speed than him and decent enough pop to hurt him, afterall the man has a 75% KO ratio and a better skill set than Sanders.

Only one Povetkin fan put that forward. Klitschko is a deserved favorite here, but Povetkin might be the best fighter Wladimir has ever faced when it comes to combining offense and defense and certain key phyical attributes such as speed and mobility. Povetkin could time the jab, which Wladimir now has a tendency to hang out there and paw with, and come over with either the right followed by the hook, or the hook followed by the right, we have seen him do it before so he can concievably do it again.

Aside from the Chambers fight Povetkin really hasn't been hit all that often cleanly, and Chambers is a very different animal than Wladimir, styles make fights and that particular style match up just doesn't seem to factor in here.

u have a point. the losses show wlad is not unbeatable but at the same time he is a completely different fighter in many respects. he may not look smooth and comfortable at times when he decides to clinch, etc... but he knows how to protect against certain weaknesses he didnt before. it makes him a less tv friendly fighter but at the same time makes him a far more difficult fighter to beat. the losses shouldn't be discounted but many overestimate them today when sizing up potential matchups.

u know i believe povetkin is very good. i have him ranked #3 h2h right now above chagaev, sultan and valuev. i admire his toughness and skills. and it is true only chambers was able to have success but eddie was the only "live" opponent he has faced.

wladimir will come to win and inflict damage unlike many of povetkin's previous opponents. im sure povetkin will bring his game too.

as for slipping the jab, i thought chambers exposed povetkin's susceptability to the jab and right hand. Yes he is different but if povetkin languishes in the pocket like he did against chambers, he will get steamrolled. Povetkin must always be on the move and not give klit a stationary target. wlad has trouble landing with opponents who use movement.

for example, I know povetkin will come forward and look to attack but once wlad clinches and pushes him back, sasha cannot just stand at distance and let wlad tee off. he must go back on the attack and keep moving. i know povetkin is aggressive but watching his previous fights, he likes to stop and pick his spots. he cannot do that against wlad. he must attack all the time and not let wlad get into his offensive rhythm

Thing is Eddie is faster than Wladimir and given his style and height you have to get in close on him to begin to attack, which means you're more likely to get hit. It is also hard to slip the jab when the person throwing that jab is shorter than you. Wladimir has this tendency to paw his left out and Povetkin will have the opportunity to get around that and begin his attack from further away thus making it harder for Klitschko to counter.
