Great! So what does that tell us about the fight? is there anything to expect as a viewer/follower of the matchup?

It means the fight will take place in Germany and not Russia. Those are the two highest bids I have ever seen for a fight, so I assume both promoters expect a very strong response from the European market.

    Great news :happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy

What´s all with the talk of Sauerland? He only bits 8 Million! It is a shame, he blame his own fighter. Povetkin can thank K2 that they bid 13 Million Dollars. He could have become more before the bid.

But good that K2 won and had all the rights to promote it!

    :happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy

But K2 had olny had to pay the 3 Millions for Povetkin! Split is 75:25 for the Champion. Wlad will make alot of money with this fight.

The Klitschko Brothers' own K2 promotions has just won the purse bid for IBF HW champ Wladimir's mandatory fight vs. Alexander Povetkin.

Saeurland Events' bid was $8.114.140 which is very decent even for a HW fight, but was far behind K2's number in the envelope which was $13.130.130. The 13s are dominating in this huge purse.

$13M is a lot of money guys.

The numbers on this bid are a bit staggerings. Povetkin will make 3.3 from the bid alone, and Klitschko will make 9.8, rich fight.

Jisi you're something else. 8 million is one of the highest bids I have ever seen, the only higher bid I have seen is the 13.1 that K2 bid. The biggest reason I have heard for such a huge bid, aside from the money this fight clearly brings to both promoters because of how much of a draw both men are, is that Klitschko simply did not want to deal with the added pressure of fighting in front of 35,000 Russians in Olympisky.

Klitschko will make much more. The $9.8m are moot because as the promoter of the fight he doesn't need to pay himself but get's all the money generated from the promotion and only has to shell out 3.3m for Povetkin.

Oh I know Klitschko makes something like 15 million per fight with his deals between HBO and RTL alone. Thing is that the Russian network, probably NTV, are going to pay a lot and will probably make some sort of stipulation that a share of it goes to Povetkin. I would not be surprised if Povetkin wound up walking away with 5-6 million from this, and Klitschko with 20+.

I am not sure what it shows Sauerland. Sauerland has an entire stable of high end fighters he needs to pay, he cannot blow his budget on one fight. Klitschko is paying himself, so it isn't really the same thing.

What it does confirm are the rumors that Wladimir is nervous about this fight and went out of his way to make sure it wouldn't be in Moscow.

Klitschko wanted to win this purse bid under all circumstances because he will most likely need the help of his friends in Germany for this fight (...the judges...) - Povetkin will get robbed badley in this fight if he will not be able to knock Klitschko out..

Wlad did not want to fight in Moscow because they would be able to robbed him if he did not knock Povetkin out.
