Povetkin has a do or die mentality. Wlad does not. A strong mentality can't be thought. As soon as Povektin has the least bit of succes , the crowd will lift him to destroy Wlad , and Wlad will panic like he always does. The fight will turn as soon as Povektin land his counter left hook flush on Wlads pucker, and it will land.
yes, but you would have to be at least 6'5 and have a similar or longer reach to circle and go jab for jab vs Wlad, a much smaller guy like Povetkin needs to get in close just to jab at Wlad's chest or body, and he can't do that with his his footspeed, he also doesn't have good enough head movement to slip Wlad's jab, but if he worked very hard on his head movement and slipping Wlad's jab, his counter overhand right, which is one of Povetkin's best weapons, would work very well, but honestly, this fight will be a repeat of Klitschko-Chagaev, ending with the Russian's corner stopping it or Wlad stopping Povetkin after he takes a severe beating
Using the jab is not the way to beat Wlad unless you're a guy like Fury with longer arms and taller. Body shots, hooks and pressure is the way to beat him.
do or die mentallity lmao...everybody has a do or die mentallity..its just that some prefer to die alot quicker than others.. povetkin has no head movement.poor foot movement.poor punch resistance..swells easy around the eyes..is no where near as strong as wladimir.has a mediocre work rate and poor defence..that along with the physical advandages he is giving up means hes in for a rude awakening.. the only thing which is on sashas side is being at home and the fact wlads last few opponents have been poor and hes been through alot emotionally in the last few years (losing father and close trainer manny) (r.i.p)..does he still want it as badly???
I agree on the jabbing and counter overhand right comment but disagree on the footspeed one. I did a little breakdown on Povetkin using the Boswell footage maybe i'll post it at some point. Firstly his footspeed isn't bad its definitely above average imo he showed a good example of it in the Wawrzyk fight on one of the KD's but more importantly footspeed alone isn't everything. Haye has excellent footspeed but has no clue on how to intelligently work his way inside or how to fight inside, Povetkin on the other hand is probably the best in the division at that. Povetkin has a decent jab but it's not used like Klychko's for obvious reasons he uses it similar to how Tyson did as a tool to get inside. His feinting, jab, counter punching (that overhand right most importantly which he also showed against Wawrzy) and ability to cut off the ring are all factors that work in tandem to aid in working his way inside along with his decent footspeed and he's better at it than anyone Klychko's fought during his title reign imo. I wouldn't be suprised if we saw some of the most competitive rounds in a Volodymyr fight since the first Thompson bout when he faces Povetkin.
the problem you have hear is that fact wladimir is good at stopping the counter right when missing the jab he was even good at it before manny came on the scene but hes even better at it now..given that with his footwork would frustrate povetkin into trying a different way to attack after a few rounds thus leaving himself open to an onslaught..infact ill go on a limb here..seeing as povetkin favours that kind of counter it wouldnt be hard to set him up for a left hook (which will finish sasha) and after 3 rounds povetkin wont be trying to cut off the ring hell be the one running around it..povetkin while he is a very good heavyweight.does not have the tools..your also forgetting the fact that while sasha does use the jab to set up other shots.does the same thing tyson does and allows himself to be clinched so he can be reset to go again..
Yes you are correct. Chances are WLad is going to duck Povetkin. If the fight does happen Povetkin is going to stop Wlad.
Povetkin does not have the tools ? Povetkin was the best amateur superheavyweight for years, dominated the scene much more than Wlad did as an amateur. He for sure has the tools. What i question is his desire though. I´m not sure if he really wants it still. That´s something you can´t take away from the Klitschkos. They alwyas showed the desire.
Definetly not. If he would be, he would fight against Boytsov, Pulev, Thompson or a other decent fighter and not against a Polish bum, the worst heavyweight boxer in history, Andrzej Wawrzyk.
Wawrzyk has beaten 27 opponents, so at least 27 men are worse boxers than him. I´m not sure Pianeta would beat Wawrzyk.
I guess he did not have to. At the end of the day, he got the title fight with Wlad. With a huge purse too...
having the tools to dominate shw as an amatuer means nothing in the pro ranks..many have tried and failed...heck many have failed as amatuers and done ok to well in the pro ranks..two different ball games my man..
