This fight better happen. It'll be more significant than Wladimir vs. Haye, the last "big heavyweight fight" and there hadn't been one for some time before that.
the last big HW fight was Lewis vs Vitali, some people still can't deal with it 10 years after it happened :yep
povetkin is no bum you are correct sir..but what is to look at however is how he looked against them all and how easily wlad beat them..(apart from huck)..the thing im worried about the most from it tho is how povetkin was evenly matched strength wise against them (esp huck) that will be a huge problem for him
Ive just been watching some povetkin videos and wlad videos all day yesterday, ive noticed more and more how Povetkins, his bad footwork can go against him, i think this will be a defining factor in this fight, I can see Wlad exploiting this weakness. I can see Wlad jabbing and keeping himself out of range, Povetkin trying to come forward but getting hit by the jab, i can see povetkin struggling to get inside, and i can see him missing with his hooks, and reaching with the hooks, i can see wlad countering. Thats the key factor how is povetkin gonna get inside when wlad has such great foot work. I can see Wlad taking Povetkin apart with his jab and using his footwork to get out of range, i can see povetkin getting tired by round 5 and losing head movement getting hit more and more with the jab and right hand. If povetkin can constantly some how stay inside, he does have power in his hooks, he definitely needs to make it a dog fight every time wlad tries to hold, maybe try the uppercut when wlad tries to hold, although Ive never seen Povetkin use that punch.
Fights like these is what the HW division needed, mentioning the fury haye fight aswell, i hope we see more in the future, great for the fans.
When was the last time Wladimir fought someone that could fight on the inside?, this fight will be more competitive than people think. Povetkin has the hometown advantage and can fight. I will be seriously shocked if Wladimir takes him out early. This might be one-sided if Wladimir keeps him completely locked out at bay with his jab and land at will. I'm expecting Povetkin to put some serious effort even if he's getting pummeled and land some punches. If Povetkin is able to get on the inside and throws enough combinations to the body he could have Wladimir in serious trouble late. Think it's safe to say this is the first good heavyweight fight in years.
Povektin needs to win for the good of boxing. If Wlad wins he's just going to go back fighting cherry picked nobodies for the foreseeable future. Povetkin has a really good chance here anyway. People dont invest in that amount of money without being confidant of a return.

Povetkin is a descent fighter, but less competition thn Haye was for example. Trns out he lacks finishing power and even a finishing move, when het gets his opponent in the corner he doesn't know what to do. Wlad will keep the fight on distance and Povetkin beeing durable, it probble will go over 12 rounds with a heavy beat up face of Sasha. No hting here, cause I liked Povetkin and had high hopes of him, but he didn't fought the best top 10 fighters so far and got in troubles a lot of times against against Huck for example.
