I assume you meant to say "if Shavers landed cleanly" because when Sanders did land cleanly Wlad got up but lost. If Shavers does somehow land cleanly on Wlad, I'd say the fight is over. Sanders hits damn hard but Shavers hits even harder. Wlad may get up but I don't think he'd be in any shape to continue. Usually when Wlad is badly hurt, he's done, Peter was the only real exception to that and Peter doesn't hit as hard as Shavers and he didn't even land cleanly on Wlad, they were cuffing shots to the back of the head. Being able to be KO'ed by Shavers isn't really a bad thing though not many heavies could have taken the power Shavers could dish out. But I don't think Shavers lands that punch, he'll get KO'ed before he can land.
A few things: 1) I meant Shavers, not Sanders. 2) Shavers punching power wouldn't be the same if he fought WK. Wlad is at least a half foot taller than ES. If Shavers has to extend that much further to hit the target he loses massive amounts of leverage. 3) Wlad is much more accurate and a lot faster than ES. Even if Wlad got hit with a big shot he could easily unload any of his punches in his ****nal and take out Ernie very quickly. Example: Pulev (6'4, 250 lbs) hit Wlad with a good shot in round 5 and less than 5 seconds later he got nailed with a left hook that left him unable to get up).
I love Earnie, but I think Vlad would kill him. Shavers was six feet tall, about 210 pounds. Yes, he could land the big bomb and take out Vlad, but most likely Klitschko keeps him at bay for a couple of rounds, tires him out, and then stops him.
He didnt have the skills or speed of david haye. And once haye felt a ramrod jab he ran for 12rounds. If earnie tried being aggressive he would of been starched early.
We both agree Wlad wins but we are walking about a hypothetical situation here where Shavers lands flush with a good power shot. You can add all kinds of variables but all we are talking about is Wlad's ability to take a hard shot from arguably the hardest punching heavyweight of all time. Wlads size and height is but one of the reasons why I think that Shavers wouldn't get to land his shot before Wlad gets to him first and knocks Shavers out. If Shavers lands with a good shot or god forbid the shot he hit Holmes with we can forget the ref even counting to 10 the fight is over there and then, as it would be for the vast majority of heavyweights. Ali, McCall, Chuvalo, Mercer and perhaps Holyfield are probably the only other heavies that I'm aware of that could have gotten up from that shot. Wlad's ability to fire back from such a shot is a moot point he wouldn't be able to throw anything back because he would be unconscious or so out of it he wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Hayden and Vitali in a line up.
I do not think that Shavers has to land that cleanly to put Wlad down. Shavers punches harder than Sanders.
Wlad has never been KOd in 66 professional fights or 140 amateur fights. Wlad can take a punch. It's the other way around. Wlad has more devastating KOs than Shavers.
[yt]O1RajNtxZNg[/yt] slightly past it shavers getting battered by tex cobb. cobb had an iron chin, but all the same. Look at shavers wild tired punches. Porous defence and lack of footwork.
Agreed Sanders couldn't even put Rahman away despite landing cleanly. He hits hard but is not in the same league as guys like Shavers. Shavers doesn't have the speed of delivery that Sanders had though, he has a much lesser chance of landing anything solid against Wlad.
Sure he's always gotten up but he's been down way too many times to say he can take a good punch let alone the power of Shavers. Too many respected boxers have commented on Shavers ridiculous power to think anyone but the most iron jawed warriors could get up from a hard punch from Shavers and Wlad most definitely isn't in that category, not many are though.
It's obvious he really didn't have the skills to compete at the highest level against someone like Wlad, the thing that made him stand out was his phenomenal power but in every other department he was ordinary at best. If it wasn't for that power he wouldn't have amounted to anything.
