Is Sultan ducking Wlad? I am sure that W.Klitschko would sign to fight for unification in his next fight. Iggy just won vs Evander leaving no excuse for not going for Wlad's IBF belt. Is he trying to dodge Wlad? I want to see someone get KTFO as I'm sure it'll happen in this fight one way or the other. Wlad and K2 promotions/HBO should make an offer to see what's up. :deal
Um didn't he fight like 4 days ago? I want to see some title unifications as wll but perhaps its a bit early to say Sultan is " ducking" anyone. I seem to recall him bing the only heavy actively pursuing unification.
I think its unfair to say Sultan is ducking anyone. He did sign a unification match that Chagaev backed out of.
I seem to remember him saying he has no interest in fighting Klitschko just before he went and fought Briggs. I could be wrong, but if I'm not I believe he is going to be the reason for the fight not happenning. He can put Thompson on hold somehow - look what happened to Sam Peter
A pity that Chagaev vs Sultan didnt come off! Sultan is totally overrrated by many posters here.Damn! He drawed with Austin, and had to go the full route with Osokin. Can anyone really imagine Chagaev going the full route with no-hopers like Austin or Osokin? Sultan is a feather fisted runner who is able to beat old geezers like Hollyfield or outbox limited opposition like Shannon Briggs(by the way Sedrick Fields, too, won a point decision against Briggs-Chagaev brutally knocked Fields out). Sultan is no match for Wlad Klitschko. Furthermore he is very known in Germany, and German tv pays big bucks to show Wlad's fights. Valuev would be a far more financially attractive fight for Wlad.
Sultan has said he was willing to fight Wlad, but saying and doing are two different things. Sultan has Tony Thompson coming up, but it shouldn´t be a problem if the money for the unification fight is good enough. I´d personally rather see Wlad take on Chagaev, who I rank at #2 in the division. Wlad taking on Valuev would alway be good too, just because of the combined size, but since Valuev is set up for an eliminator against Liakhovich, it´s probably not happening.
Odo is right, Valuev/Wlad is the fight most fight fans want too see. I think unification is needed as well, I just cant see Iggy being competitive with Wlad.
Which fans? I'm fairly certain that most fans want to see title unification bouts. As much I'd like to see Wlad destroy the giant, I'd rather see him destroy Barney Rubble for another belt. Anyways, Wlad has stated that they are not interested in fighting Valuev since he no longer holds a title.
I don't really care that Ibragimov won't be very competitive against Wlad. That's not the point, nor the reason behind Wlad wanting the fight, nor is it the reason why so many fans want the fight. They want these four seperate belts to finally start coming together to help clean up and define the once great division. That is what its all about. UNIFICATION, and improving the division........... not how competitive the fight will be. I could care less if Ibragimov lasts for half a round. That's fine with me. At least we'll then have one titleholder with two titles, and hopefully, soon thereafter, they unify even further. THAT is what the reasoning behind this fight is...............Getting the division back on its feet.
Whats the difference if a guy owns 1 belt or 2 belts, the fans want to see good competitive fights, and were not getting that. The titles dont mean nothing if were watching **** fights. If Iggy does fight Wlad, Iggy wont engage with Wlad and make a good fight with him. If Iggy was a afraid to bang with 45 yearold Evander, what do you think he will be like against Wlad. The fight is going to look like Bryd/Wlad 2, Wlad just going pick Iggy apart until the times right to explode with either a right hook or straight right and the fight will be over.
Just get the unification on. I don't care either way. Iggy was willing to fight Ruslan so why not Wlad. If he gets KTFO, at least he got paid for a unification bout. When was the last time we saw Wlad fight another Eastern European anyway? I hope he doesn't go looking for a Rahman fight. :verysad He has time to get this going before the IBF tourney winner is decided.
