By that logic I can say that Tyson never unified the titles In the 80's because when was the last time they were separated before that? IBF used to have the same mark as the WBO until larry holmes made it popular. Whether you like it or not WBO has become an official title and a considered a major belt.

The Iggy/Wlad fight is technically a unification fight, but shouldnt the Sam Peter fight be as well? Doesnt he still hold the NABF or the continental belt? The WBO belt has always been looked at as, lesser than the other 3 main straps. The fact that guys like Briggs, Liakhovich, and Brewster were the last to hold it, should tell you something.

Im looking forward to seeing this fight tonite, but you cant tell me it even has half the historic value or popularity as when Holyfield fought Lewis in 99 or when Tyson fought spinks in 88.

According to this logic, Tyson unified the titles because Larry Holmes won the WBC title from Norton and beat Muhammad Ali for the WBA Title ( Ali won it from Leon Spinks March, 1978 ), he just relinquished his WBC title to win the newly formed IBF version after December 1983. Mike unified the titles once separated because he beat Berbick, Bonecrusher and Tucker ( and Spinks), there is no problem with logic here - the IBF was formed and their title was won by Tyson and since he put both WBC and WBA Championships on the line, had Tucker won it, he would also be unified... The WBO has become a major belt but was never unified with the others - now the IBF champ is putting his title on the line to win the WBO's for the first time in history... The winner has to face mandatories IBF and WBO contenders or this is a fake Championship unification.

More worrying is the fact that you can just see the IBF and WBO trying to pull Wlad...uh, the winner of tonight's bout in two different directions...

You're grasping at straws here Dorf................

The bottom line is that 2 or the top 4 are fighting to clarify who's really the best. The WBO's rankings are no better or worse than the other 3 belts and that goes for all weights as far as I'm concerned.

    IMO:

    1. W. Klitschko
    2. R. Chagaev
    3. S. Ibragimov
    4. O. Maskaev
    5. S. Peter

It could be argued that Ibragimov is #2 since he's been more a lot more active than Chagaev or Maskaev.

That's a stretch. The point is that 2 of the top 4 beltholders, & the most active one's I might add, are actually fighting each other. Get over your bias & appreciate it for what it is. It's a Heavyweight Unification bout..................

Maskaev vs. Peter is only unifying 2 belts within the same organization & rankings...............more like a mandatory defense than a unification.

Peter became mandatory after fighting a fat out of shape, old middleweight Toney, Peter actually lost the first fight, and Toney didn't even train.

Who gave money to the children of Nigeria? Vladimir Klitshcko, Peter does nothing for them. Peter is so conceited, bragging about his great showing against McCline, who kicked his arse and deserved the decision. Damned criminal judges did not even give credit to McCline for the first knockdown, which was legit. Vlad has to fight Austin, was mandatory because Don King demanded it. Now, against Maskaev, Don King is not giving Oleg his fair share of the purse, is having the venue in his territory, Mexico, yes, the territory that Jose "The Bandit" Sulaiman owns and Don King owns Jose! Euros are cheated, the always have to fight against all odds.

The WBO broke off the WBA in 1988 and has had as its most popular names ODLH, MAB, Prince Naseem, M. Carbajal, J. Tapia, Harry Simon, Benn, G Man, Calzaghe, Eubank, Dariuz Michalczewski, S. Collins, M. Moorer, R. Bowe, Cotto, Byrd and the Klitschko brothers and you have the nerve to say that their titles are no worse than the other 3 belts, RUSKULL? Look at their titlists: Nietes, Narváez, Peñalosa, Luevano, Dzinziruk, Ibragimov... the only guys I give credit to are Calderón, Montiel, PDL, Guzman, Torres, Quintana, Joe C, Erdei and Macca.

Then you say Ibragimov (23 fights - 2 World title fights and a IBF eliminator- and a pro since May 2002) has been active ( Mora, Briggs and Holy) and rate him above the two WBC top rated heavies and that says just about all... Klitschko is not going to be regarded as Champion by beating Sultan but he would be in deep **** if he loses another fight and against someone like Sultan - talking about moderate risk/low reward for Wlad and high risk/ high reward for Sultan.

Iggy is rated 6th by the Ring - behind Oleg, Peter, Chagaev and Valuev... Give me another unbiased source if you please?

I have already proved going off of resume alone, Iggy should be at 5 or 6, his best wins are over Holyfield and Briggs, he also has a draw over a journeymen in Austin, guys like Peter, Chagaev, Maskaev, even Povetkin are more proven Heavyweights at this time.
