Wlad would of beaten probably all those, with the possibly exception of Holyfield, who was past his best when he fought Tyson anyway.
He gave Larry a good fight( could have gone either way) and he was green but Tim was happy with that he beat a few top guys by close decision but training could have made him a better fighter. He was not in shape when he got KO'd in 1 by Boneclucther Smith. Tim had his moments but was a heavy pot smoker and was undertrained...I think the other drug filled contenders of the day Dokes, Page,Thomas and Tate had a better chance at beating Holmes at least when they showed up in shape.
There is no excuses though for fighters. Being a pot smoker or not taking training seriously is as big a flaw as not being a good infighter or having a bad chin. Thats why the word "great" shouldnt be thrown around so loosely, because it really takes a special person not only physically but mentally to maintain a championship pedigree if they have it. Theres been a lot of shoulda woulda coulda's.
Absolutely......serious training make the difference...Max Baer would have been a much better fighter if he trained consistantly.....I agree....training is an important part of being a great fighter and dedication to it
