greats get upset by unfancied challengers. it is the beauty of not just this sport but all sports.

it has happened to many greats before wlad and will happen to many more for decades to come.

Well I wrote off Fury many times, now I think Fury earned the right that we have to entertain the idea that he might be 'something'. I still think he won't be able to hold on to the belts for too long -- due to lack of discipline/laziness/distractions/unprofessionalism.

But still, he earned the benefit of the doubt and we have to give him some leeway. If he boxes as disciplined during the next 10 years as he boxed last night its hard to imagine he doesn't at least get in a couple successful title defenses.

That's a harsh thing to say, especially when we consider Wladimir's stature and activity level prior to this fight. However... I can definitely see your point.

Wladimir should not have lost to this relatively inexperienced Fury. He didn't get old overnight -- that's just an excuse. He just lost to a guy he should've thoroughly outclassed, and allowed his belts to be snatched away because he refused to actually "fight" to keep them.

Lewis was old , inactive , out of shape and under prepared when he beat Viltai to a bloody pulp in just 6 rounds.

Wlad was in his usual best shape and was fully prepared when he lost large to Fury.

Only a fool would think that is top 10 greatness. The difference between Lewis and Wlad is a world apart.

Greats still have skills past their primes. Holmes used his great skills to box up to nearly 50 years old.

Foreman used his boxing brain to win the Championship at 46.

Ali was 100 times more shot than Wlad when he boxed better than Wlad against Berbick.

Wlad was a product of a terrible era and used his size and bullying tactics to maul under sized nobodies for 10 years .

The "old" argument would make sense if Wlad displayed skills but was too slow to impliment them. But Wlad fought the way he always does but when his jab, clinch, foul tactics don't work, he has nothing else to offer. He is a very limited fighter and always has been.

He didn't have a good night but to tarnish the man's long reign, 28 career title fights, because of a decision loss shows up people who have an agenda other than boxing.

His resume is much greater than his head to head capabilities.

I would have him top 15 for accomplishments, but H2H I wouldn't even have him in the top 40. He would get beaten by so many.

Off the top of my head I'm trying to think of someone winning the heavyweight title with so little experience e.g within so little fights, (bar spinks.) and with such a limited quality in resume. The gulf between a hammer and chisora compare to wlad is pretty deep.

This will be the key for Fury in the future. If he can keep going on like has for last half of the year, he might become very good boxer. He has some incredible natural abilities that guys like Joshua/Wilder do not possess. Speed in hands and legs, reflexes and good eye for punch. His punching technique is **** and his physique is even worse so there is much to improve in the YOUNG man, still. But you can't train speed and reflexes, they are god given talents and for a big man he has very high level talent in these departments.

    He can't adapt.

We already knew he was a robot, last night was just more proof of it.
