Surely after that fight he could fight Haye late september - he hardly broke a sweat or get hit. he will prob want a break but youre a long time retired - get back in the ring with Haye!!!

After tonights fight - which on paper was the biggest fight to be made (other than both Klits, but thats never happening), unification (well should have been), ring magazine title, number 1 vs number 3 in the division etc. - you now realise why the heavyweight division NEEDS Haye, but not just for one fight, they need him to succeed in his pursuit for dominance in the heavyweight division because the fight tonight was not good (entertainment wise. Wlad performed very well IMO) and that is not going to make people take notice of the heavyweight division, apart from the German fans who seem to love these types of fights.

Whats the ring title give him then Gaz? Does it have to be who they chose?

No mate, the Ring never enforce mandatories. Its his title until he either retires or gets beat.

Yep, but (at the risk of opening up a can of worms) some fighters don't worry about the other belts once they've got the Ring title to sell their fights on.

You know full well he's never giving up those IBF & WBO belts- he loves his collection and will try and keep it for as long as he can. For Wlad, the Ring belt is another shiny bauble for his mantlepiece.:yep

The only way someone can lose the Ring title is if they are beaten at the specified weight, they retire or they move weight division. :good

I'm the same, the Ring system has its flaws but at least the champion at a weight is "the man who beat the man" wherever possible. Failing that they create a new lineage when the number 1 fights the number 2 or 3 in a division as with the fight tonight.

Ring Magazine have diminished their belt somewhat by awarding it to the winner of Haye vs Chagaev when, I think, most people consider Wladimir and Vitali the clear one and two in the division.
