And you have to factor in that Ali fought Spinks, an undefeated boxer, in back to back fights.

So technically, Ali only had faced 5 separate undefeated boxers.

Once again, another great thread CST80 :deal

At this point Wlad is 2nd greatest heavyweight behind Ali, but if Klitchko will be able to stay at least 5 years more at the top position then he could overtake Ali's position.

It really hard to quantify just how good their wins really were, everybody looks at the past with rose colored glasses, most of Ali's opponents would be average by today's standards, the media had a way with hyping and building fighters of yesteryear into icons and legends in spite of their various losses and shortcomings, it was a different time.
Today fighters are held to an incredibly high standard in comparison, take Bradley for example he has a very impressive record one of the more impressive record of a current fighter, but he lost to Pacquiao who's an ATG, that must mean he's a worthless bum and sucks, which is an incredibly illogical way to look at things.

Ali Frazier and Foreman were really lucky there wasn't an internet in their day, otherwise they would have been torn down as well.

These losses should count as well.
    Holyfield has lost 9 times.
    Lewis KO'd twice brutally.

The 11 undefeated opponents are mainly bums and blown up cruisers.

There's nobody on that list as good as Tyson, Lewis, Ali, Norton, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes,....etc... list can go on.

Just because someone has an undefeated padded record with no risks doesn't mean he's the best heavyweight in the history of boxing.

I think He will be in the top 10 on longevity. He could pass Louis for most defenses and that is something.

You can say he is in a weak era--blah blah blah. Bu tthats not his fault. His job is to fight the top ranked guys and he has done that. Convincingly.

There is no other "All time Great" that he could fight.

Sure--he has a few early loses. But once he got with Manny, changed his style, he has been very, very good.

I'd like to see him hang around to break Louis's record.
