Once you retire, you give up the title. Doesn't matter if you comeback or not.

Chris Byrd the best heavyweight in the world? How many gift decisions did we see that guy get? Isn't he too busy being knocked dead as a light heavyweight to be a great heavy?

I don't want to live in a world where Chris Byrd was #1. No, that's not for me

Imagine if Ali and Foreman were brothers and never fought...Would either be called the dominant champion? And would anyones presumptions be correct
Vlad is a victim of circumstance, but nevertheless his resume has to be scrutized in exactly the same way as other fighters....and the mere existance of Vitali will leave a question mark over his dominance.

Completely different scenario. Ali retired, in his place frazier established dominance over 5 years. He then got bounced around by foreman who was the champ. He made a defence against ali and lost, ali never at any point said "i won't fight him, he's strong and dangerous plus I promised my mum I wouldn't fight him".

Vitali was the champ, he retired and in his place wlad rose to prominence. If vitali wants to stake his claim he has to challenge wlad. If he did and wlad refused (i.e. Bowe-lewis) then you'd have a case.

This is obvious trolling, but to answer you though...Even with your reasoning Wlad will soon enough to be the UNIFIED HW Champion. Just wait for Vitali to retire, and Wlad will pick up all 4 belts ;).
And no, it's one thing to spar around with your brother, but another thing to straight fight him for peoples entertainment! If you and your brother get in a fight because of something that's between family. If you fight your brother for money, and to entertain people then something is seriously wrong with you as a human being.
My brother is exact opposite of me, and chose a bad road for his life, but I'll be damned if I'd fight him for money.

I'm 6' 180 lbs. Cut, but not ripped, and was a decent amatuer going 17-7 between 135-147. 0-2 at MW and LHW:huh

My brothers are 6'3 275(black belt in taekwondo and hakido and was a regional tai kickboxing champion, even had his own dojo for about 18 months.

My other brother is 6'1" 195 and ripped like Roy Jones Jr @ 168, even @ 42 years old. He spent 5 years in prison between 18- 25, and he KOd a couple of cops with one punch.

Either one of my brothers KO1 vs me, and I've NEVER lost a street fight and had probably 100 growing up in Chitown. Both are fun to have around when your'e clowning for a bar fight.

    OK answer this
If Vlad fought Vitali and beat him would his resume and ATG standing be better than it is now?

Of course it would be - which in turn means that Vlads legacy will suffer from him not fighting Vitali

i do not expect them to fight but these are hard facts!

no, man. If Wlad manages to collect all belts including the WBC title after big bro retires, in ten years time no one will give a **** about him not fighting his brother.

So are you seriously saying that if Vlad went out next month and beat Vitali , it would not affect his legacy, P4P status and overall status in the ATG rankings???

    C'mon..get real..
