Especially in Clay/Ali's case I often have the feeling that AliFants have some father-son relationship with Ali and the "Big Soviet threatens my daddy, thus I must protect my daddy"!

In Ali's times "heavyweight" was defined as 176+ lbs
which is lighter than today's female heavyweight division.

Clay/Ali and Joe Louis have out-weighed their opponents in approximately 75%of the fights.

Clay/Ali had supposedly his prime in the 1960s.
His median weight in the 1960s was 199 lbs.
Nowadays Ali wouldn't even be ALLOWED to box against the Klitschkos.

thetallest guys Ali KO'ed were 6'4":

·Richard Dunn 33-12 (= bum)
·Charlie Powell 25-11 (= bum)
·Billy Daniels 23-22 (= bum)

a typical nobhead argument is "Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier shows how easy Ali vs Klitschko would go"

lets look shall we:

There are basically only 3 fights AliFants use to show the superiority of Ali against a Klitschko (aside from Ali's supposedly superior record as such):

Ali vs Foreman (Foreman had a similar KO'power like Wladimir Klitschko):
Ali vs Terrell (Terrell had a similar height like Wladimir Klitschko): Terrell is one the most featherfisted boxers. Out of the picture.
Ali vs Joe Frazier (to show how Ali can overcome being hit and how great Ali's stamina is).
So, let's take a short look at Frazier vs Ali.

In that fight Ali went life-or-death ("Fight of the century").

Yet,

Frazier was only 205 lbs (= lighter than EVERY opponent the Klitschkos have EVER faced)
Frazier was one of the most featherfisted champs of all time (#56 of 64 world champs, real heavyweight KO'ratio lower than Chris Byrd!)
Frazier was only 5'11 (Wladimir Klitschko fought only ONCE somebody smaller)
Frazier was blind on his left eye (= more handicapped than ANY opponent of the Klitschkos,he would not be allowed to fight today for medical reasons)
Frazier managed to knock Ali down and won the fight.
Frazier was demolished easily by Foreman ("King Kong plays ping pong"), who is the only comparable fighter of the 1970s to Wladimir Klitschko (in terms of power)
So this fight objectively shows something that AliFants hate to read:

1.In our times Klitschko vs Frazier would be a PROOF of how terrible the division is.
2.Ali's performance against Frazier is a proof of what a limited boxer Ali was.
3.That such a small handicapped featherfist like Frazier could actually be the world champion shows you how bad the golden era was.

Yet, in the strange world of AliFants the reasoning goes like this:

1.Frazier is a terrific fighter, he was half-blind, yet look what problems he gave Ali!
2.But Ali sustained! He overcame this terrific fighter! Ali is the greatest!
3.Since he is the greatest he would beat Klitschko every time!
4.And you know what? Frazier is so terrific he would beat Klitschko, too!
5.Whom have the Klitschkos fought? Ali has Frazier on his resume! The Klitschkos only fought bums!

Only if you apply this deranged logic, Ali (or Frazier) have a chance against Klitschko.

Here mate your a good and respectable poster but your wrong in saying that you can't define fighters by their losses. No matter how long ago.
It is the manner of Wlad's defeats that wrangles with a lot of his critics.

The fact he sought the safety of the canvas rather than try and get through his nightmare moments, or because he was scared of being made unconscious. This is really hard to comprehend when you are talking about a HW champion.
No matter how much he has improved the fact remains he has shown a distinct lack of heart when it has been put into question. He is now being talked of as an ATG, fair enough. But if that is the case, then he is going to be scrutinised more than he ever has, which means the manner of his losses are not going to be glossed over no matter how long ago they happened.
The bottom line to a lot of people is that if his heart is called into question again, would he come through it. The likelihood is no.

When pitting him against Ali you can guarantee his heart is going to be questioned.

He also knocks an inch of Ali's height and forgets to point out the man had a long reach. Something the likes of Byrd and Haye didn't.

If Wladimir had problems pinning Haye down, how do you figure he would pin a prime Ali down?
Would Ali throw hopeful punches from afar like Haye? No.
Would Ali come into a fight with Wlad trying to win throwing one punch at a time? No
Would Ali run in order to self preserve just like Haye? No
I could go on.

People mention Ali's lack of power. But he had respectable power, more than enough to trouble Wlad's whiskers. But his speed of hand and foot would be the key.
If Wlad thought Sanders punches were coming at him fast then he would think he was tripping against Ali.

Seriously i and a lot of other people on here acknowledge Wlad is an excellent HW, but we also realise he has limitations and glaring flaws in his make up.
The likes of which would be highlighted severely by Ali.

Slight difference here though, Williamson and Pannell were early fights that Wlad took 18 months into his career. Not like the utter shite Henry Cooper who was a major player in the heavyweight division in his era.
