Wlad was very cautious against Thompson, Brock, and Ibragimov I seriously doubt he would go after a murderous puncher like Haye early on.
doesn't let his hands go? So you're basing this conclusion on what? his lone fight with sultan. In the fight before (brewster), he averaged 72/punches per round and after (thompson), he let his right hand go the entire fight. he even threw effective body shots and uppercuts. he abondoned the jab when it wasn't working and began using lead right hands that broke thompson down. BTW, Barrett was rubbish and his workrate was anemic. He threw some awful looking punches that were wide yet still connected on Haye. Wait til Wlad's faster and straight line bombs land. Haye's chin will turn to dust :yep Even Lennox said Wlad's right hand is so straight and fast, it's like a piston at work. If this fights comes off, I'm even more confident in Wlad's chances now. Haye has a low workrate and is far less of a boxer and much more of a slugger who explodes in bursts then backs up and does nothing. His footwork was sloppy and you could see the clinches with Barrett suck the energy out of Haye. I have changed my prediction to Wlad RTD 6 as Haye quits on his own stool :happy It would be quite funny and true poetic justice if Wlad just jabbed the whole fight and Haye did quit on his stool. LOL that would be great.
Yes, Wlad was cautious against two southpaws... he's got a history with them that I'm sure he does not want to repeat, I'm not entirely sure it translates to orthodox fighters... Ibragimov especially because he was, at least supposed to be, a quick handed counter puncher, for what it's worth I can't blame Wlad for winning the fight without testing the theory on his chin. I understand how a quick, good-power counter puncher could make someone like Wlad cautious and that fits Haye to some degree, but he saw that Wlad is going to do to a guy like that. Just between you and me, I don't want to see a fight like that again. Wlad was also cautious against Thompson and Brock because both had solid chins and a similar style of tying up their opponents arms and countering. Now, I also understand how someone with a solid chin could pressure Wlad but Haye does not have one, maybe against Barrentt it was good enough but not against the kind of speed power and accuracy that Wlad is brining. Which brings up the last point, Haye is very consious of his chin and he's not stupid. I can't imagine him eating a few jabs and hooks and not seriously reconsidering his life's decisions which is what I firmly believe happoned to Ibragimov in the ring. So we're back to square one... how exactly is Haye going to pressure Wlad without first assuming that Wlad's just going to lay down and take a beating from the first(well, third) guy to show balls especially when all Wlad's been doing for the last 4 years is learning how to prevent something like that from happening again?
Fully agree. After seeing Brewster and Sanders KO Wlad, now others seem to also think they can clock him, and KO him, as well. But he has clearly improved his game, and his left hand is extremely hard to get past. Then there is that missle right hand. And if you do land, he's not as weak chinned as has been said so many times. Peter caught him, flush, at least five times in their fight, and he couldn't KO him. Given his size advantage, amazing power, speed, and skill, Wlad KOs Haye, yes. :good
I think you're forgetting who the bigger puncher is out of the two, as well as who has the better chin, fundamentals & technique. Bye, bye Haye, we hardly knew ye.
Give me a break. The first right hand Wlads landes on Haye's weak chin it's over. Haye has bad defence and his footwork is completely average. Barret Dropped him.
So murderous hey got beat by a forty year at 190 pounds. Give me a break. He swings wildly with his hands down. He has not tasted real heavy power. Wlad will kill his ass.
This smuck thinks a 215 pound man hits harder than real heavy's. Hard to take him seriously after saying some dumb**** like that.
Tyson and shavers weighed around 215 at thier peaks and those are 2 of the hardest hitters ever, Rahman who is a heavy puncher couldn't KO Barret, and Valuev needed to lean on Barrett 10+ rounds tireing him out before he got the KO, so Haye does have very good pop at HW IMO.
OK, but what happened against Peter, Sanders, Purrity and Brewster? Wlad can be put on his ass weather you like it or not.
I'm not sold on Haye just yet, he still needs to prove he can take a punch against a bigger hitting Heavyweight, a fight against a Sam Peter type Heavyweight may prove this. As far as who is the tougher oppenent for Haye, Vitali or Wlad? I think the answer is pretty simple, Vitali. Vitali has a 10x better chin, is tougher when push comes to shove, higher workrate, and doesnt melt when under pressure. Vitali would be a complete nightmare for the weak chinned Haye. Against Wlad, he at least has a chance of catching that glass chin of his with a solid shot that sends him into one of his famous panic attacks, and against a great finisher in Haye, it may spell trouble.
Guarenteed eh? glad you have the foresight to do that. Wlad's jaw is pitifully weak for a man of his size and one good shot from haye would put him to sleep Haye would get one good shot on him
