This post shows ignorance from a boxing perspective. While Sanders was not dedicated to the sport he had devastating hand speed and possible the biggest southpaw power at heavy for the last..um close to ever. Only Michael Moore is comparable lately.
Sanders is a bad loss whichever way you want to spin it. He is essentially a one hit wonder; and his wonder is a KO of Wlad. His big brother whooped his ass, Hasim Rahman whooped his ass. Who did he beat? Old ass Carlos De Leon who was never cut out as a heavy and Michael Sprott? Ross Purrity; another Wlad lost embarrasingly to? Wlad's losses look really really terrible on his resume that is for sure. A lot worse than Lewis's.
You caught me on the wrong day with this one. I justwatched Lewis vs Morrison a few hrs ago. I definetely pick Lewis over Wlad. Wlad wouldn't have much of a height advantage, and Lennox is way more explosive and faster than Wlad.
well Sanders was a dangerous opponent, that even LEnnox didnt want no part of... but no excuse for the Purrity loss, that is an embarrassing one.
I agree with the fact that Wlad's losses look bad, you cant dispute that point. However, you certainly cant dispute the fact that Sanders was a dangerous opponent. If yuo did you would look like a fool. Lewis said that sanders was dangerous. And again, I challenge you to find a more dangerous southpaw at heavyweight in the last 20 years. maybe Michael Moore.
I challenge you to find a dangerous heavyweight that can fight standing on his head in the last 1000 years. Just because his stance is something of a novelty it does not actually improve his ability beyond being a southpaw. Corrie Sanders resume says he's nothing special. Watching him also tells you he's nothing special except relatively quick hands and a punch. All heavies punch and some have quick hands. He's southpaw too, deal with it. It's a poor loss. It's the "best" of his losses, thats all I can say for it. And thats only because I'm giving the benefit of the doubt with him being a southpaw, Brewster was a better fighter.
I give a lot of credit to avenging of losses. Wlad avenged Brewster, but didn't against his other two conquerors. Vitali should have taken a Bryd rematch for free - or not quit in the first place..... though he could do little to stop Lewis retiring.
Now we're talking. Fear does strange things to people. It's a primal thing. When threatened, we lash out and try to control our subconcious- which is telling us everything isn't OK. That is, face the facts- you are wrong. Have you ever wrangled at night, trying to justify questionable decisions? Some people on the forum are great examples of this phenomenom, 40 Ounce resolutely backed Peter- vs.Vitali, but he man-upped when Peter lost.. 40 ounce is still a Peter fan. On the other hand, you have the other guys that repeatedly -Klit-haters - and there are many-have subconscious insecurities because they are scared as hell that their nemesis- their subconcious and Vlad is the real deal.
No, I don't agree. If he retires at the same age Lewis did, there's five to six years left for him to make it up. He will reach Lewis' retiring age in mid January, 2014. And that's a long time in boxing. Mike Tyson's entire pro career till the end of his prime was over in that time. Lot's of names can rise and fall in five years. My opinion is, if he fights successfully for the next five, he might just scrape the top 10 list. But it's unlikely.
i was more making a sweeping statement as it stands now it couldn't happen but for him to get upto that level he would prob have to lose again against someone and then come back and beat them. Say for instance haye beat vitali and a lot of other top guys beat wlad and then wlad beat him in a rematch that would prob increase his stock more than just beating haye.
That's nonsense. Wlad already is the Champ. The Champ makes the title, the title doesn't make the champ. When Vitali fights Haye, Vitali will have only fought 1 fight in the previous 5 years.... and it was against someone that Wlad had already beat. David Haye has only fought twice EVER at heavyweight, and that was against fringe top 30-40 opponents.... the best of which Wlad knocked out in his prime. Vitali vs Haye would simply be an exciting fight to watch, neither of them is reigning on a perch that would force Wlad to beat them in order to be considered "the champ". That's just silly. I agree though, that if Haye beats Vitali... Wlad vs Haye becomes a HUGE fight. I wouldn't be suprised if he beat Vitali either... the man will be 38 years old, extremely inactive, and injury riddled.
Sanders openly admitted to denying Wlad a rematch, and also admitted that Wlad was pressing him hard for one. Puritty pulled out of their scheduled rematch with an injury. Wlad can't force people to fight him again, Lennox was just lucky enough to have his opponents give him a rematch. Rematches are EXTREMELY overrated anyways.
