When he fought Purrity he was only 24 fights into his career. Only FOUR (4) of his fights had gone past the THIRD round at that point. He had never been in deep waters before and gassed.

Against Brewster we saw the folly of Wladimir's destroyer style. He threw bombs for four rounds, and with such a style it's "If you don't knock 'em out they'll knock you out". He managed to knock down Brewster (first to ever do it) with his relentless assault. In the fourth round Wladimir was clearly getting tired when RJJ commented "he's going to gas soon if he keeps throwing like that". Brewster didn't "crack wlads egg chin", he simply weathered the storm and beat a man who had nothing left.

There are several other knockdowns scattered throughout Wladimirs career. A few to Peter, who was quite clearly rabbit punching (backed up by observations of Lampley and Merchant), one to Williamson (a knockdown largely due to balance, Wladimir not hurt at all).

Sanders hurt Wlad. Wlad wasn't tired or new to the game, Sanders hurt him. Yet I think this fight would have been MUCH different if Wladimir reacted differently once he had been hurt by the first bomb. He didn't try to hold once while getting mauled by Sanders, instead trying to box his way out and throw his own bombs. That was a huge mistake. Holding when hurt is something most great fighters do (and should) and Wladimir simply didn't know how at that point.

I'm not saying Wladimir has a granite chin. He doesn't. I'm saying his chin isn't glass, and is far from it. When has a heavy weight who has never been cleanly KO'd, and has gotten up from every knockdown gotten so much **** for his chin?

Hard to say due to the fact anyone who gets close enough to land a punch immediately finds themselves in the Klitschko grip of death.

No he just uses his height extremely well and fights very cautious controlling behind the jab, wlad is a smart dude he knows his jaw is glass so he doesnt risk it (unfortunately for us even when winning clearly) allthough some of his kd's were due to fatigue more than jaw being shattered imo.

Accumulation shots and being tired is another thing entirely...I can agree with that. But he has been hurt with single shots. And even though we are talking about massive guys throwing extremely hard shots that would take out guys like us, we are only comparing them to their peers.

As far as Brewster hurting Wlad, it actually happened kinda early.

    Time 1:47.....4:38 for the replay

But again, Brewster is a big strong 200+ guy with a big punch. It's not like these type are common anyway.

He was also sneaking in body-shots.

There is a lot to getting tired fast when hurt. That's why guys that can control their emotions/mind/body, when hurt, are incredible.

Wlad has gotten great at not getting hit flush in the chin. That is why his chin is improving. It's a byproduct of not engaging until the coast is absolutely clear, then waiting another two rounds.

Wlad's chin consists of wet toilet paper and dry horse **** and it's about as underrated as Tyson's power.

how is his chin underrated when he barely ever gets tagged on it cleanly, and when he has, he's had it utterly shattered or at the very least, brutally cracked? that doesn't sound like an underrated chin, unless people underrate the shittiness of his chin.

Emmanual Steward taught Wlad to stay behind the jab and use his height... and to step back when his opponent comes forward. His chin is still **** but he seldom gets hit on it flush. He's still a boring ass fighter and him and his brother are the very reason why there needs to be a super-heavyweight division. They've made a career off of beating up on small heavyweights and built up cruiserweights and everybody thinks their ATG's. If the Klitchkos were 6'2 - 220 they wouldn't be ****

Which (proper) HW champ has been down the most times? Is it Patterson or Wlad?

    That's a terrible argument.
That's like saying if Shaq wasn't 7'1, or if Michael Jordan was 5'9.

And, if they were different heights, they'd have a completely different body, a completely different style, etc... in addition, there are plenty of big guys who SUCK. You think Tye Fields sucks, well guess what? There are many fighters his size, who Fields would absolutely demolish. Same goes for other sports. There are a lot of 7ft guys who can barely tie their shoes, and would never make it in the NBA. The height/size argument is not valid.

Wlad's chin isn't bad, but it's not really that good.

A man who can whack hard and land flush can stop him.

Hence why Sanders gave him a beating. No accumulation there.

Wlad took a LOT of hard flush shots from Sanders. And got up after each KD. Didn't try to hold.

It's not like he was KTFO with one punch like Lewis.

I think Wlad's chin is fine. But he seems to go into shock more than anything else and loses it. It's like some video game where if he gets tagged he loses energy to a drastic level. He was like that against Purrity, Brewster and Sanders, though Sanders' quick hands were extremely accurate.

It would be interesting to see if he ever gets tagged again and how he survives if he did.

Louis was down around 12 times most of which were around 200lb fighters or under.
