Holmes' and Louis' opposition wasn't any better.

Wlad is right now very close to Jack Johnson in the longevity department.

If he keeps defending his title for one more year, he'll beat Holmes and Dempsey. Only Louis had a longer reign.

How many greats did Jou Louis fight?

He literally had a period called 'bum of the month', in which he pretty much fought anybody who wandered into the ring with him. Nonetheless, apparently a pile of unranked bums from the 40s are a greater accomplishment to defeat than anybody from the modern day and age.

Don't even mention this Euro-level legend's NAME in the same sentence as that regional grade bum. Artur Grigorian was one of the best lightweights of any era. Grigorian fought some of the toughest, most durable Euro-grade warriors this planet has seen and deserves far more respect than is given to him on these forums. Do you realize that the man you are talking about won the German International Title?...which already puts him a league above domestic-level athletes like Roberto Duran. He also defending his title , albeit the regional grade WBO title, countless times before retiring, far more times than any American-level athletes can ever imagine. This man is boxing royalty.

If W;ad ever fought anyone like Tony Musto in his reign you people would lambaste him. Louis is the ATG heavy but your foolish to think he only fought top fighters in his reign. Same for Larry Holmes.

The hardest thing to do once you get to the top is stay on the top. If it was so easy more guys like Louis, Holmes and Wlad would have done it.

  10. Vitali Klitshcko shatters Wladimir's glass chin, but we will never know cuz Wladimir ducks Vitali. So no... he's never been undisputed... as universally recognized by all the boxing commissions

  11. We can stop with the undisputed champ theories.

As far as any real boxing fan is concerned... Wlad did not fight the #2 which is Vitali.
The reason being Wlad can never beat Vitali. Most klitards will agree with that

Wlady will be remembered as some sort of great, but the number of defenses and the names on the record matter too.

In terms of being a great of sorts, he was there a long time ago. In terms of being a first tier, undeniable, agreed upon by everyone great in the vein of Alil Louis, or Marciano, he has to find and decisivley beat 1-3 more credible challengers.

No one challenger could help him out at this point. Povetikin is the best single name, but he has been so degraded by his own unwillingness to fight best that hisname only helps somewhat.

Helenius had a roll going, and was s good match due to size and power, but the Chisora fight busted a lot of that. Chisora's failing against Vitaly (and fury) busted any potenial he would have.

Pulev would be the best name, but even he has only beaten guys who have left him as less than a mega-fight figure.

Hard to say who Wlady's best options are.

Wlad could have 100 defences but he would never be that.
