In Louis's era, fighters were just naturally smaller. Holmes comp is heads above Wlads comp. Louis beat bums and good fighters. Wlad is beating bum after bum. It's not his fault. That's the only comp available.

All a champion can do is beat the men put in front of him. For the most part Wladimir has done that with the exception of two men I suppose. That kind of longevity is no fluke. It takes hard work and dedication to a clean lifestyle to stay in such good shape all year around and make it through training camp after training camp and then win the actual fight itself. Just think about how many fights get scrapped due to injury or scandal or worse. Wladimir and Vitali have become worthy successors to the mantle last held by Lennox Lewis.

Louis had a rather large size advantage over a number of his opponents. Do you deny this?

Bum or not (and anyone who calls every opponent Wlad fought a bum simply doesn't know what the hell they're talking about) to consistently dominate and shut out opponent after opponent for this long takes a great deal of skill, concentration and determination. I don't think many fans realise how easy it is to have an off night.

Want me to go through Louis's record and pick out all the LHWs and sub-cruisers he fought?

Why would you want to do that when Wlads been kod by smaller men? A smaller man kod Louis too. Smaller men have hurt Louis and Wlad.

Nah, you don't have to waste your time, lmao.

The sport's changed. How many top fighters in any weight class routinely defend their title every month, eh?

Haye's a big name win for Wlad but he's not "undoubtedly" the best opponent he ever fought. Byrd, Ibragimov, Chagaev and Chambers were all on a similar level, skillwise.

  11. I agree with most of what you say.

I disagree Chambers and Chagaev were on the same level as Haye.

Have we even seen Haye's true level? I'm serious. We haven't. He is just a super athlete with a glass heart.

I think if Haye hits his prime in the next 1-3 years he will be a monster Heavyweight.

But he have a glass heart so I doubt it

Also people said Chagaeve was shot for that fight.

The Sultan Fight should have a negative impact on BOTH WLAD AND SULTAN

That one fight between Sultan and Wlad set back HW Excitment another 6 years

Haye gets away with a lot of mistakes because of his physical abilities. He's really not that great a boxer, on a basic level. Not a bum of course, but then the only 'bums' (relatively speaking) that Wlad has fought in recent years are Mormeck and Rahman.

Whenever I think of Wlad - My first thought is the Sanders fight. Then its the first Brewster fight. Then it's Samuel Peter and then a bunch of undersized guys like Byrd, Haye or Mormeck.

I don't think "Second to Joe Louis"

Further - Larry Holmes had 21 title defences, not 11...
