I agree. I do not believe Lennox would make a good basketball player. There are so many more agile athletes that are also larger than both Lennox and Wlad (6'5" to 6'6 1/2" are basically average heights today - the NFL's average is 6'4" covering 1,696 players while the NBA's is almost 6'8" covering 450 players).

I think Prime Lennox did everything as well or better than Wlad (though a few things are certainly similar). I believe he a significantly better boxer and much tougher fighter (and a modestly better athlete so that I wouldn't forecast him to demonstrate some huge disparity in any kind of one-on-one Olympic games athletic competition against Wlad).

Wlad is quicker than his bro and looks comparatively quick and nimble for his size but it is always when in the ring with lesser fighters/athletes rather than against talented large athletes. Don't you think it is possible to appear quick (when you are the better athlete - even though larger) facing such a complete plodder like Chagaev? Did you see extraordinary athleticism during both Klitschko/Sanders fights? If you did, then you must believe that Sanders is an all-time great or equivalent talent because with the exception of his health and conditioning his skill set/athleticism did not take a back seat to theirs in nearly any respect (except those likely a product or directly attributable to being physically unfit).

I completely agree with the first post. As long as there is nobody who is as tall as him and has the same or better reach there's no threat he has to fear. Yesterday he totally dominated a tough guy in Chag who would give any other boxer (except Vitali of course) problems. Chag looked lost in the ring without any chance, but it wasn't his lack skill or heart, it was Wlad who made him look like an amateur. Wlad has the best jab of all heavyweights ever and since Vitali will never fight him, he won't get beaten till the end of his career. I even think that a prime Lewis would've a tough fight against him, both would've the chance to win though. Tyson would've no chance at all. Wlad's reach advantage and his powerful jab would give Tyson the beating of his life. Haye? Haye would get KTFO early - no doubt. The version of Wlad we saw yesterday would eat Sanders for lunch.

Well, as always people tend to put too much into the last performance. Wlad may now be in his prime, he surely looks better than ever. But a dangerous opponent can make him nervous, Chagaev was as good as i feared he would be. A guy like Chagaev can only be a champ in a weak division. When you are the little guy, you have too be quicker, the thing is, these guys Wlad is matching, are smaller and slower, same against Thompson or Rahman. Chagaev isnt quick, technically he is nothing special, and his punching power is average.
And that is no complain about Wlad, its not his fault his opponents are not the most talentest.
While i think Wlad is able to beat everyone in history, there is also the possibility he loses to them. He is improved, but im pretty sure you can get him out of his rythm, you just need the skill to reach him. Unfortunately, most guys are just talentless. I hoped Chagaev would offer a little bit more, but i was pretty sure Haye would have been more of a challenge. Maybe Haye would have been lying on the floor after 2,3 rounds, but still...his combination of speed and power would have been more dangerous to Wlad.

I would favour prime Lewis or Prime Tyson over Wlad. But Wlad is surley climbing up the ranks ATG wise.

If Manchester UTD played Bolton all season they would come unscathed, hes doninating a weak division pretty much like Calzaghe did the supermiddles. though Clazaghe was only regarded the Nr:1 until 2005, he was pretty much a nobody before

but I have to say hes has adopted a highly effective style.

Errr, any evidence for that? Basketball players stronger than European Heavyweight champs? That can't be right. Europeans are genetically the strongest people on the planet. More agile they may be, but that's because of years of playing basketball ball and doing the relevant training.

Could they beat wlad in the ring? No way. Could he beat them at basketball, no. That's why he is a boxer and they play basketball.

Yes, because Lewis was in his prime physical and mental condition against Vitali.

Your just lucky that in 2003 Wlad was out of the contenders picture after another loss or you wouldnt have the wlad you have today because he would have collapsed against Lewis worse than he did against Sanders.

I feel sorry for you but I cannot help you. You have to accept the reality. You try to deny it but it will not make you feel better. Wladimir and Vitali KlitschKO are the best fighters today. I understand your nostalgia for the heros of the past. It is a common thing among old men. They keep telling us how great things were when they were young nad how today's youth is nothing. Just enjoy the best fighters of today because others will come. Nothing stays at one place.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Lewis was fat, un-motivated and well past his prime in the Vitali fight and he still won. Wlad doesn't last 4 rounds with a prime Lewis.

I agree with that. They would definately get more dues if they were Black particularly in the American media.

To appreciate the way Wlad opperates in the ring you really have to be a boxing purist and not one of those arm chair blood and gore rednecks.Him and Steward have developed the perfect safety first style that utilises his immense physical gifts to break down his opponents. It may not be the most exciting to the mainstream crowd but to a purist its simply the art of boxing. His size, speed, technical execution, ability to control distance, change angles and work off the jab to create openings for the right hand
whilst not getting hit back is boxing at its best.He dominates his weight class like no other and no more can be asked than that.Hes easily top 12 p4p maybe top 10.

Chagev showed the same tactical versatility as the similarly built southpaw Sultan Ibragimov i.e none at all.

If you give away so much in reach and hieght you cant win by out jabbing your oppnent.
Chagev didnt land a punch on Wlad's face all night - he simply couldnt reach, and his reach wasn't getting any longer yet he kept trying.

He made no attempt to get inside of Wlad, tie him up or encourage wlad to step forward. For his part Wlad was happy to grind out a victory and he showed no flair or ability to throw a combination consisting of more than 2 punches - jab, jab, jab, jab, straight right, jab , jab , jab, jab, straight right..etc.

My prediction. The Klitchkos are effective against the smaller men but give them someone their size and speed and they will get undone. Or a smaller fighter he knows how to get inside - tyson would have given them serious problems

Good post. Likely the worst style matchup for Klitschko would be Tyson who can close the distance quickly and seamlessly. On the inside Klitschko is uncomfortable, and Tyson could have him fighting there most of the night. Bobbing and weaving the jab, Klitschko would not find it so easy to find the smaller target.

I would expect Klitschko to have the easiest time with the all-timers who stood up tall and fought like Foreman. The young version particularly who came to bang as he did.
