"Man, that was one crappy period when you had the Klitschkos, Valuav, Ibragimov, Chagaev, Brewster, Lyakhovich, Gomez, Peter, Chambers, & Arreola.

What color are these guys, ASS WIPE?

Only a ****ing idiot believes that the best big men are competing in the heavyweight division. The mediocrity is apparent to any half decent athlete.

True. Lewis was hated by all my boxing fan friends in NY, I mean hated. Now he's a legend.......................I was on board the Lewis train before it was popular to do so.

As if. Just because you can score a goal, throw a Football or dunk a basket doesn't mean you have what it takes to be a Pro fighter.

    All good points. :thumbsup

The eras of Rocky Marciano, Larry Holmes, Jack Johnson, Joe Louis & Jack Dempsey were all worse than the diversity the division enjoys today.

Joe Louis fought the famed "bum of the month" club due to the lack of serious competition. Holmes actually defended his title aginst Tex Cobb, imagine the flak Wlad would get for fighting a similar opponent.

If you honestly believe a Pro athlete can just step off the court or Football field & lace on a pair of gloves & defeat everyone then you are living in a fantasy world & I have no help for you. Ask Mark Gastineau how well that worked for him......................there are many other examples if you care to look them up.

Look you are trying to degrade the quality of fighters by either

    A. Due to them not being American
    or
    B. Due to them not being black.

I say about the colour thing due to the fact YOU referred to the NBA, etc which is a predominantley black sport.

Its as though now the Euro's are taking over every single American is making an excuse as to why the division isnt as good.

Lennox Lewis had it and i was one of his biggest haters, couldnt stand the man, now he has retired i have grown to respect that he was standing alone in a pretty decent division as is Wlad and Vitali.

Its bellends like you who dont respect the division because the main man isnt either, black, american or out raping and cursing every two minutes.

Wlad Klitschko will go down in history son, Vitali might if he can get a good fight resume going over the next 5 years but i dont think he will.

Yeah, who the hell would be bringing up Gomez, Ibragimov, or even Chagaev ten years from now? There's so many good top ten HW contenders from the past that people don't remember, much less talk about.

The Europeans, Africans, Asians...the places on the planet where boxing is a volcano erupting.

I am very sure most Americans won't be saying this, where boxing seems to be an earthquake cracking in to pieces and sucking its past popularity in.

Don't forget, Klitschko sold 60,000+ (plus the RTL viewership was off the wall). I am currently reading a book on boxing that ends right before the Klitschko reign. And there is barely any mention of any venue going past 20,000+ (Holyfield v Tyson, v Lennox - and that's really it). Vitali is in contact to have his battle with Haye at the new stadium in Donetsk, Ukraine's new stadium for Shakhtar-team holding 50,000+. These are huge numbers.

For some self-centered Americans staring at the current Heavyweight division is like this one parent on my little brother's swimming competition who said "**** swimming" when his son, who used to be getting number 1 spot, came in 8th place at a higher level competition.

Instead of embracing the growth in boxing as progress you're are treating it as cancer.

the problem is, that many mainstream american are so crazy patriotic, the only thing they need, is an american who can rule the division. if wladimir klitschko would be from the us and would be named john steelhammer smith, than 90 percent of the ******s from the us would say, oh john smith is the best fighter ever, look how he beat the former amateur world champion chagaev, he is incredible... and so on.
you have to accept that the heavyweight is ruled by europeans cause they had time do develop after the end fo the soviet union and could turn pro.
