I very much doubt AJ is scared of Ortiz. The fact is Wlad has the rematch clause and IBF force mandatories much more than WBA.

Ortiz should be WBC no1 contender too but Wilder is a lucky guy that they decided to let Stirverne have it!

It seems that Wlads uncertainty over a rematch with Joshua, is holding up the entertainment machine of the division right now. After a loss, you'd think its an instant decision for Wlad to rematch.

I never thought that the division would be going through such inactivity as we are at the moment. Joshua putting on a good top of the ranks match with Wlad. Parker tried to do the same but Hughie got "injured". Wilder yet to have a top of the rank match. Ortiz yet to have a match at all. Haye lost a match that wasn't even considered a top of the ranks match, now Bellew is somewhat considered a heavyweight contender. The three champions are still yet to fight.

Wilder, Parker, Joshua are all very quiet right now. At the moment, it looks like they'll each have one more fight for 2017. They might also be all mandatory bouts. This just seems like the most likely scenario based off whats out there in the media.

I'm getting the impression with Wlad he was happy with his performance and happy with himself after the AJ fight. I would be to if it was definitely my last fight. But I don't think its the right frame of mind for staying in boxing, if the hunger was there he would be gutted more. Wlad could retire now a top 5 atg heavy for me

Wlad needs to pull the plug on the rematch right now then. After seeing the shape he turned up in against Joshua I do believe he was 'obsessed'. He rolled back the years that night. Not to his prime, granted. But it was the best he's looked in years.

If he can't get that same obsession back then he shouldn't bother at all. He needs to get out with his millions, his Hollywood fiancee and his faculties intact. Joshua will be even better if they had a rematch. If he doesn't come fully prepared he could get himself seriously hurt.

I agree with those who stated that 50-50 sounds like retirement is his likely decision

He also sounded like he was content with his final performance and would be content to end his career on that note

I don't think he would benefit at all from fighting a lower level opponent for one last "win"

He fought the best.... all the way to the end and cleaned out the division -----very----- thoroughly over his decade reign

I think if his heart really wanted the rematch bad enough, he would have initiated it by now. Then again you never know, his family could be asking him to retire and hes not torn because of his heart but because he has to weigh the feelings and desires of those closest to him.

What is Klitschko going to do when Josh unloads a barrage of uppercuts next time around?

    Good point

His wife and young daughter are more than likely playing a big role in his decision

He may yet announce he's taking the fight, but I am leaving towards him saying it's over
