He is promoting the bid which will eventually lead for getting more money for that children. Of course the video won't help anyone by itself, but it serves the objective because more people will be aware of that bid through those ads. I don't think he is into promoting himself through that stuff because he has done a lot of humanitarian work without publicity and many people knowing about it.
