Yep fair point. But Hopkins is on the money with those comments. Stating what everyone deep down knows is the truth.
Wladimir's in a bad spot early in this fight because he's going to be trying to dictate range, but theres going to be nothing there for him and he's not able to put on real pressure until his opponent is very worn down. Otherwise it represents too much of a risk to him. So unless he comes out like he never has done for a long time he's going to struggle a bit. David Haye is in a great spot because he's the more natural fighter, he can throw any type of punch without worrying about setting it up. He doesn't need rhythm, he only needs to get a feel for Wlad's rhythm which he'll do by feinting. If Wlad sticks that jab out there consistently as a range finder Haye is going to start to time him. Haye hasn't got deformed arms, he's got a long reach as well so he doesn't have to be too far inside that rangefinder. I wouldn't like to be in Wlad's corner early, thats danger time to me. But ya never know, I'm basing this all on their recent showings, one or both could in theory come out completely different due to the magnitude of this.
Tyson Fury is probably one of the few people up there who has seen Haye and Klitschko up close. Nearly every comment is biased anyway. Hopkins is a Goldenboy fighter just like David.
Would be a masterstroke ala Rocky if he could do it well and his lead right hooh would be deadly. But the one thing that normally suffers when you switch is your defence and I don't think that Haye can afford to do that. Certainly would not be my approach if I were Haye.
Forget all this southpaw bollocks. Haye's gonna come out with a big bushy, Kimbo Slice-like beard and windmill his way through the fight :deal
Can't see him fighting southpaw. It's very rare an orthodox fighter turning southpaw works effectively in a top level fight. It's more likely he's going to come out extremely aggressive because he knows Wlad can't really counterpunch. Much more likely.
I dont know, its not like Wlads known for coming out and throwing bombs from the get-go so I think he'll be happy enough with nothing much happening early on, dont think it will set him off his game. I do see Haye making him miss some jabs like you do, sometimes maybe even miss quite badly, but he'll land some too which will start to rack the points up in his favour imo. I really think Hayes best chance is to go for it early a fair bit, try and land something which will intimidate Wlad.
If Haye fights differently I think it will be that he is more aggressive early on. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him come steaming out in an attempt to put fear and doubt in Wlads mind immediately. I believe Hayemaker see Wlad as lacking in confidence and a large part of their strategy is to capitalise on this.
I say again I think it will be a rising left hook followup to a right that puts Wlad down. I even think Haye may in tentially miss the right to land it.
Haye is coming in real light for this fight, look at photos from his media day in London a couple of weeks ago. He's not going in to destroy in any kind of power perfromance. He has trained to move. I can't see anything other than another Valuev performance.
