Ray Mercer was inconsistent... If he wasn't at his best prime peter could definitely upset him. Did Mercer hit Lewis with multiple illegal rabbit shots????

He doesn't have a great chin either, but it's decent. Sanders and Peter were both huge punchers to be fair, and Peter couldn't finish Wlad. Even granite-chinned Vitali had a few shaky moments early on with Sanders, and Sanders wasn't even in top shape for his fight with Vittles. The Purrity and Brewster fights were aberrations.

Excellent point. Sanders after the Wlad win has become some mythical monster who knocks out anyone he hits. But if Rahman could take numerous shots from him and got up to win it clearly shows Wlad's chin is not as good as Rahman's and everyone knows Rahman is chinny, look what Maskaev did to him, knocked him clean out of the ring.

Lennox Lewis was knocked out cold by an over-the-hill Rahman. Lewis was also TKO'd by McCall. Mercer beat the hell out of Lewis, so did a very small and sick Mavrovich. Did you watch Lewis hold on to Tua for 12 rounds?

Joe Louis was knocked out, so I guess he had a glass chin. not to mention so many top fighters. Steward said that Vlad had a good chin.................

No, no and no. He's been sparked numerous times and fights so cautiously because he KNOWS he cannot take a punch. That's the reason he fights safety first you ****ing moron.

As for Sanders being a KO artist with "assets to upset any HW in history".. what utter drivel. The only people Sanders EVER KOd were bums/Glass Jawed fighters. Give me one fighter with a decent Chin that Sanders KOd. I'll save you the time, you can't.

Yes the revisionist view of Sanders after he beat Wlad is utter drivel. He was never a genuine top contender more a fringe contender, got KO'ed by Nate Tubbs and Rahman and never beat anyone of note other than a flawed Wlad. If Sanders had been a genuine threat to any heavyweight he would have beaten Rahman and have a better resume.

haye is the one of two recent victories you can give him kudos for but no way on earth can you sit there and lie that he didn't run and jab and spoil for the whole fight.

povetkin is an even worse case of run and spoil, but again wlad won so he gets credit for it, albeit by some of the worst cheating on record.

Thompson was approaching his 40s, and was never a big name when even prime. don't pretend he wasn't.

wtf? you invent mythic results for Wlad when hes too scared of the rematch?

what kind of daydream makebelieve world are you living in?? go live in charlies chocolate factory, mate.

wlad lost to crap fighters, period, multiple times, as a finality. He is probably the weakest non-temporary H2H HW champion ever.

Steward also said that Hearns received a leg massage before the Hagler fight which weakened him. I didn't believe that one, either :-(

Yet Vitali, who most everyone agrees has an outstanding chin, was rocked by Sanders

    It's embarrassing, he's a glass jawed wrestler.

If he didn't know his punch resistence was so shite, he wouldn't employ the safety first, second and third tactics.

Maybe its becaue Vitali didn't have an 'outstanding' chin.

What big punchers did he face? He was doing the huckle buck from a jab ffs:oops::patsch

Wlad was so lucky to get knocked down several times early in his career. He developed the reputation of being chinny and gave his future opponents the idea they could just wait to land a big bomb. David Haye did that and got beaten to a pulp over twelve brutal rounds. Wlad takes advantage of any opening and his opponents underestimating his chin is just another one.

Yeah Wlad's chin isnt bad but it's pretty terrible. You dont lose to tier 2 guys all by stoppage unless your punch resistance is bordering on **** poor.

Even hittin the canvas against the likes of Williamson and Sam Peter.

    Just terrible.

Give him credit for fighting much more cautiously and intelligence as a result of these setbacks tho. BTBH there are guys in the UFC that are boxing better than most of the guys Wlad has been fighting.
