Marquee win is David Haye, brutally stopped by three mediocre opponents. Had it all his own way boxing old, short, mediocre and blown up cruiserweights in Germany, with paid referees, strict anti-doping governance over opponents (of course, his end was paid), glove clauses and bouncy canvases. A very good boxer who also happens to be very overrated, and now that he's out of the picture, the fans who used to moan about him being boring laud him as some sort of hero that would dominate today. He'd struggle to pick up any belt and keep it for any length of time.
I remember him best for his noble defense of Elton John and Liz Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Much superior works by @haNZAgod; This content is protected This content is protected
The "beautiful boxing" highlight should have included the footage where Fury uppercutted himself. It can't be easy to land an uppercut that perfect on an opponent as elusive as Fury.
Better to uppercut oneself as a twenty-year-old, three-fight pro novice with limited amateur experience than as a thirty-nine-year-old, sixty-six-fight professional veteran with Olympic pedigree; This content is protected
So you're saying Wladimir Klitschko absorbed an uppercut from Wladimir Klitschko, the hardest puncher of the last 20 years? It's unbelievable that people complain about the guy's chin.
Well, that shot never was a strong suit for Wlad (in the scarce instances where he threw/landed it on an opponent who wasn't already discombobulated/reeling, it tended to look mechanical and somewhat ungainly). But we do have plenty of recent evidence of Fury's prowess with the punch. Some guys are just better equipped to learn than others, I guess.
Wlad owes his success to Lennox Lewis (who would have KHTFO). Had Lennox not retired making Manny available Wlad would have never learned how to protect his GLASS JAW and would not have recovered from being KTFO by two mediocre opponents. Lennox beat his Brother and would have beat him too. Fury would have beat Wlad at any point because he was not even a little intimidated by him and was a much better boxer. Wlad did good with what he had but he ain't an ATG.
