Lets take a look back at Klitschko's excruciatingly boring performance this past Saturday.
There was a huge media push for this fight, Wlad even made an appearance on the Conan O' Brien show, Ibragimov was the perfect foe a talented but limited fighter, This fight also represented the first heavyweight unification bout since 1999.
And then the fight unfolded Wlad used his jab with precision but nothing else followed, Sultan was practically begging to be hit with Wlad's right hand but Wlad was reluctant to use it all night. He failed to realize that an impressive victory would have done wonders for him and for boxing in America as a whole.
He had the perfect opportunity to to make his mark as the ruler of the division and ruined it. A fact that Emmanuel realized and was pulling his hair out trying to get wlad to knock sultan out or at least be more exciting.
Instead of cheers and applause a chorus of boos is what they received from the fans who paid good money to watch what was suppose to be an exciting, historic event at the Garden. This was NOT a good night for boxing I pray that no casual observers stumbled into this sleep inducing episode for fear of driving them away from the sport forever.
Klitschko had the perfect opportunity to bring some excitement back to the heavyweight division and failed miserably.

I agree completely with this post, I am a true fan of boxing who has paid loads of money to watch past and present fights on PPV, as well as getting HBO and Showtime for months at a time, I really get enjoyment out of almost every fight I see, and certainly this one isnt going to turn me away from Boxing, though it might a guy who just had nothing better to do on a saturday night, and heard something about a Heavyweight unification fight being on.

I fear Boxings introuble, maybe not outside the states, but certainly in it. The MMA is what most of the guys my age watch unfortunately, with fights like this one, I'm afraid the one's that did happen to watch it last saturday, probably turned it off by the 6 round, and decided never to try and watch Boxing again.

Sultan was crouching away from the right hand the whole night and definately not begging to be hit with a right hand

    apart from that i agree

Vlad is the best heavyweight in the world today and that is obvious.

Sure he beat ibragimov but did not show an ounce of fire or heart it's pathetic and most definitely not the way to show you are the ruler of the division.

Wlad would have been cannon fodder to Tyson,Holyfield and Lewis

I reckon Galota will beat him if he is givin the chance

Who the **** thought it was going to be a good fight, outside of Ibragimov nuthuggers who still believe Barney Rubble was a brawler with speed and power.

Ibragimov was in the BORINGEST title fight of all time against Briggs, I mean the WORST title fight of all time. He followed that up with an absolute snooze fest against Holyfield.

So what did you guys expect. Ibragimov is a southpaw, and was defensive the whole fight just sitting back to counter.

Wlad was able to win the fight by doing nothing but jabbing. It was smart, was it exciting, no, but it was smart.

Blame Ibragimov for that **** fight, not Wlad.

Not every win will come by way of KO. He just took his last few out, most in dramatic fashion, and now beats another titleholder by UD, and that gets criticized.
    :-(

The guy even said he was too hesitant and will KO his next opponents, seemingly sorry for his lack of giving the crowd what they expected. But a win is a win....and good GOD, the guy is only human.

Sure, this was a good opportunity, being a high profile fight, to really make a statement, but a decisive win is a decisive win. Take that and move on to the next opponent.

yes it was mostly ibragimovs fault. he only looked good against someone like mora or whitaker but when he stepped up, he didn't wanna brawl anymore and chose the ducking and counterpunching technique. wlad's next fight will be thompson who is a standup fighter, it will be a more exciting fight. of course wlad is not as exciting as tyson or holyfield but lewis wasn't too and wlad can retire without brain damage.

In short, he's the heavyweight version of safety first Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Well I'm sure Wlad would be proud to be compared to Mayweather.
Wlad's K.O. percentage is very high and he'll rebound from this dull
fight with some big K.O.'s down the line. I did enjoy though seeing
this giant guy able to fight so defensively and make the smaller and
very fast-handed Sultan miss repeatedly to head and even body.
Most huge heavy's have terrible defenses so Wlad is very talented
and athletic for such a big guy.

Klitschko was the ruler of the division BEFORE he even met Ibragimov 23rd February, and he is the ruler of the division AFTER. Stop whining. If you tivo'd the fight, watch it again, and you will see that this fight was not as bad as people make it out to be.
