Against either David Tua, Olanier Solis, Tomasz Adamek, Jean Marc Mormeck, or Denis Boystov. This is great, Wlad's going right into it. Outside of Mormeck, all of those men sound like intriguing prospects for a fight. No break, Wlad wants more. I love his mentality. Let's give Wlad his credit. This man is literally cleaning out the division in more devastating and dominating fashion than anyone we have seen since Mike Tyson in the late 80s. The division may be weak, but their are still some top 5 fighters who are pretty talented and Wlad dominates them, and some of the other top 5 fighters don't want to fight the guy. Wlad is the Heavyweight Champion, he is the man. He is putting together an unbelievable title reign, filled with dominating victories over the best out there, or once again those willing to fight him. Wlad's remaining quite active and he will continue to do so while he cements himself as a great fighter. All that is left is victories over Povetkin and Haye and his reign of perfection is complete. Let's face the facts. Wlad is not your typical big man. He is one of, maybe the best technician in super heavyweight history. His offense is a juggernaut, filled with weapons. His jab is like a torpedo. His Ring IQ is off the charts too. I think his fundamentals are fantastic. Pretty Soon, people are going to have to recognize this guy as a top 10-12 heavyweight of all time. GOOOOOO WLAD!!!
Thats what I like to see, I would stay away from Solis too little to gain at this time and if he wins so what.....Adamak has had some exposure or give Tua a shot, at least that fight offers some danger and a well known name Vlad has to make the best of his time
I would love to see a Tua matchup but he must fight Adamek, Povetkin and Haye before he retires for his place in history to be secure.
It supposedly takes a Superior Boxing brain to work out that if you're twice the size of all of your opponents, your best bet is to utilise a strong jab and bring long right hands behind it. God knows how he came up with such a strategy.
Common sense dictates Wladimir's strategy, and although I give him credit for successfully employing it, it's nothing to marvel at. Ring IQ is off the charts? Based on what? He throws one-twos on the outside and then clinches when his opponents get in close. This is nothing new. Not at all.
In fairness, he didn't exactly tower over Thompson or Austin...but then, his strategy still didn't change all that much. Actually, come to think of it - against Austin, it did. That was the night he threw nothing but hooks. Against Thompson, I suppose you could say he made the "adjustment" of elevating the plane of his jab, and leading a lot more with the straight right. :conf
Povetkin and Haye won't fight the Klitschko's. Adamek might fight Vitali in Madison Square Garden on March 9th, 2011. I heard a rumor that Frazier and Ali will be invited to sit ring side. If this happens, I hope Showtime gets the broadcasting rights. Screw HBO. Not sure who Wlad will fight next. I think Boystov is out. His management is not ready to risk him yet. Solis, who declined a fight with Vitali might fight Wald. If Tua needs money, he'll take the pay day too. It is nice to see champs staying active.
Agreed .. besides being very smart, knowing athis age keeping fit and active is key, Wlad is a credit to the sport and a terrific representative as heavyweight champion.
Guys that jab or move get too much credit as being smart or having great ring IQ or superior skill. It's the people with physical disadvantages such as height that need a lot more skill to be successful. Anyway, I'll be disapointed if he fights Boystov. I like Boystov and would like to see him in against some more top end opposition to see just how good he is before throwing him in with a Klitschko. The same applies to Solis. Tua's fight with Barrett took any hope away that I had regarding the Tuaman. Adamek is a very good fight. Mormeck is a joke.
I'd might actually favor Adamek against Vitali (prime Vitali a very different story) An Adamek victory would lead to a Wlad-Adamek showdown that would be gigantic.
About as good a fight for Wlad's legacy as is available. I don't give Adamek much of a chance though.
