It's just boxing being strange.

Alex Schulz beat Foreman (despite what scorecards say), Wlad destroyed him.
Foreman beats Briggs, Briggs still get a titleshot a whole lot years later.

Though Briggs got dominated in a not very exciting beatdown

Briggs was **** back then but was World Champion... what does this say about this era?
He got a gift title shot nothing more. And got his ass beaten 12 Rounds long.
Schulz was a serious contender, Moorer a lineal World Champion, Briggs World Champion, Douglas was a World Champion Old fat and slow Foreman was a World Champion... No the early 90es (until Lewis took over and Holyfield) were not that great.
I am not saying that todays era is great. But they 90es were not much better! Last great era was with Prime Foreman, Ali, and Frazier!
But for americans every era is **** when there is no american champion:patsch

Great being competitive.
Ali was past it and his legs were gone, Frazier only had his left hand and was blind in one eye, Foreman was being dehydrated by his trainer.
Norton and Young have less problems but they weren't as good as these men.

Frazier after Ali gave Terry Daniels and Ron Stander a title shot.
If you think Wach and Pienata are bad title defences, Frazier makes them look like top 5 ATGs compared to these two then.

In the end every era has an infinite things you can whine on.

But 70s fights generally were more exciting than Steward-Wlad fights.

Although Frazier was almost blind in one eye he was better than most heavyweight contenders of the next years!!!! Just compare him with the likes of Schulz Moorer or Briggs! Do you really want to say that Frazier was not better than those guys?
Dont know what you are talking about. Foreman dehydrated? As a ****ing Heavyweight?

Yes, his trainer used to make him cut weight before fights, and did not give him fluids, then before the fight he would give him a glass of cold water...which was supposed to be some kind of psychological boost or something. Bizzare.

And why the **** should a trainer do this? Man this would be way to stuipid to be true! A heavweight who is dehydrated? Never heard of such a stuipid thing.... why should a trainer do this? And why should a boxer let this happen with him? I mean Foreman was not a boy! He could decide also what to do.

His trainer obviously thought it was a good idea and Foreman walking through most of his opponents like they werent there wouldn't have made him think he was wrong

Big George obviously trusted his trainer and people werent as clued up about nutrition back in those days

Saddler wasn't the best trainer ever and he thought it would do good.

Humans can be stupid you know?

Frazier was almost certainly better than those three.

Fighters and trainers do a lot of stupid things, yearly a lot of wrestlers die because of dehydration even with knowledge of it being dangerous.

No not that stuipid... Also one could say that Foreman would be very stuipid because he would let this happen to him.
A Heavyweight who is dehydrated.
Funny first time I heard of this. What did Foreman said about this? You know that it is cheap excuse for many boxers... That they claim they were dehydrated in a fight were they looked bad? The fight against Ali just looked the way that Foreman gassed him self out.... because he throw so many punches and Ali was able to take them.
I can understand when a boxer is dehydrated because he wants to make it in to a weight class... but a heavyweight? Sound like a dumb excuse for me.
But well I dont know what this has to do with the topic..

Still the 80es and eral 90es were not that great. Alis era was great!

Foreman lost to Briggs. That's how Briggs got his date with Lewis.

Exactly. That's what the numbnuts who are screaming "Oh my God this era sucks, the 90s were so much better" are just plain wrong.

You hear the same old song at every setback happening in the HW division in recent days. Helenius looks like **** against Sprott? "Oh, just further proof how this era sucks". Price gets knocked out by 40 year old Thompson? "Oh look this era is horrible, this would never have happened in the 90s".

Like if young contenders never looked bad or got knocked out in the 90s!

On the scorecards yes, but it's unanimously regarded as a robbery. **** Briggs himself looked stunned when the scores were read out.

Price has nothing to do with this era

Look at the last handful of opponents to the number and 2 in the division

Pianeta
Wach
Thompson
Mormeck

Charr
Chisora
Adamek
Solis

It's self explanatory

Look at the resume of the number 2 fighter in the division, good god
