Why is that pathetic... They were better fighters overall imo, but too small for guys like Wlad and Vitali. In that time they fought some big opponents, but overall those were guys without boxing skills and punch resistance to speak of. Tactics they used against those wouldn't work against Wlad and Vitali.
You can argue Ali would have found a way to win it anyway, but the whole problem is they are hard to hit and hit hard themselves.

Yeah like dominating Sultan after he put on a clinic versus Briggs.

I know no one is asking about Lewis, but I think a prime, focused and in shape Lennox is the head to head best heavyweight ever.

watch the last round of the fight, and then come back on here and tell me who was the fighter coming on strong. it wasn't lennox holding on for dear life twice when he got caught, no, that was vitali. anyway lets forget about that. lets pretend that didn't happen.

most of wladimir losses are by the smaller heavywights of todays. heavyweights in the 220's. haye might be another fighter in the 220's who might beat wladimir if they fight.

i believe speed is the key to beat vitali, not power, and the heavyweights of today except david haye lack in that department much more than they used to. it's hard to see how vitali would fair, he hasn't beaten any great fighters. not entirely his fault i know, but the only chance he had of doing that and he blew it. i don't think either one of the klitschko's would do well. i just believe skills over size does the job.

These clowns would be the Brewsters, Rahmans and Briggs of today. Paper belt holders that lack the consistency and discipline and would quickly get blown out of the ring by the first tough, world-class competition they face.

Yep, but look who they were... Not great (even mediocre) boxers, but in the 220's with punching power. None of the guys in the comparison have these specs. And anyone knows that these guys were actually much lesser boxers then Wlad, but got lucky on the night and todays Wlad would probably level them (after 10 rounds of jabbing).

Nevermind that he gassed versus Purrity and Brewster, it wasn't like they did much to beat him other than absorb punishment. The only guy who went out there and took it to Wlad was Sanders, who at 6'4" and 230lbs is bigger than Ali and Foreman, and much bigger than Louis and Marciano.

i didn't know you needed size to be great. are you saying that sanders could do something ali and foreman couldn't do just because he's a little bit bigger than them? using that comparison then i suppose carnera and valuev must be the greatest heavyweights ever.:patsch

No you don't need size to be great, but clearly boxers have gotten bigger, faster and stronger over the years. I mean Tyson really was just a bigger, stronger, and faster Frazier, with a more expanded arsenal. Sanders isn't great, but it isn't as if some little guy took out Klitschko, it was someone who matched up well with him physically.

None of these guys would beat Wlad "easily". This defensively minded version of Wlad would be a tough nut to crack for any HW ATG.

Note I didn't say unbeatable. The point is that the Wlad that Manny engineered in the past couple years is very hard to defeat for even the most illustrious historic heavyweight legends.

Lol, This whole thread is just crazy! I am so tired of the Kbros fans trying to build up their legacy by comparing them to all time greats. They are the best of the lot right now but I can think of several non great champs and contenders that could beat both of the bros. i think both bros easily make the hof easily but that does automatically ATG . . . no!
