For the Pianeta date Fury, Pulev, Helenius, Arreola all said no. Povetkin priced himself out and forced the purse bid. Solis couldn't fight due to promotional issues. Maybe Adamek would have been better....... Not really Wlad's fault.
I wouldn't go as far as to call him a 'disgrace'... But his opponents have definitely been disgraceful! I think if you want 'better' opponents to step up, then you need to offer them more money. That's why they're all working themselves into mandatories. In the long run, it works out better for the Heavyweight Division... But in the Short - Medium run.. Not so good! Right now, rather than fighters going: Bum, Bum, Journeyman, Top 50, and then straight to Champion... Maybe they will go Bum, Bum, Journeyman, Top 20, Top 20, Contender... and then Champion. I think that missing link (fighting Top 20/Contenders) is partly what is making it so easy for Wlad. But in the meantime, with the likes of Pulev/Fury etc tied up, it allows them more experience against highly ranked fighters. But at the same time, it means Wlad either needs to make an attractive offer to them, or he will carry on fighting the likes of Pianeta/Mormeck etc.
Exactly The so called best contenders don't want to fight Wlad. Fury, Povetkin to name a couple of the most interesting possible opponents for Wlad at this point. The guy can only fight who has a good record, AND is willing, afterall.
Whatever you say man. The brothers dominate everyone in the division. The division as a whole is ****in terrible.
I'll say one thing though, that's where I'm not sure about Povetkin. His talent (at one point) was undeniable. He's got Eddie Chambers, and Chris Byrd on his resume, and outside of the Klitschko's, he's got the best resume... But this was all a couple of years ago. Since he became a paper champion, his best name was Huck, and he's a Cruiserweight! So will that experience benefit him? Or is it so long ago, that he's actually regressed since then? One thing is for certain, that it would be interesting to find out!
Haven't see Pianeta, but if you're saying he's worse than Mormeck, than he must be very very pathetic. Mormeck as an opponent was atrocious
Who is this amazing stand out of a heavyweight fighter that you think Wlad is avoiding? :huh Are there a few guys Wlad is avoiding that I may not be aware of? What exactly is it you expect Wlad to do differently than what he's doing right now?
Wlad is a very good and real Champion!!! Most of his defences where mandatories or unification fights. The contenders have to be critizes! They have to fight each other to get a shot at the Champion. But what did they do? They say no, they are injured and so on. This is not Wlad´s fault. He would have fought Povetkin in 2008 and 2010, he was at the Press Conference! The Champ wants to stay busy so he fight Pianeta. Who was willing to fight. Tyson Fury is not a better opponent than Pianeta.
Tell his trainer to stop kOing his potential opponents. LOL Banks sure killed that HBO payday/exposure for Wlad by crushing Mitchell. Wlad pays a guy 10% to train him and wreck his easy American paydays...
David Price might be fun to watch, but he doesn't have the athleticism to really bother Wlad. David Haye does, but the memory of the broken toe makes it hard for Wlad to really take Haye seriously. unfortunately the HW division was held hostage by a broken toe. but to the surprise of many, Haye is continuing to fight, despite claiming he would retire when he turned 31. Wlad should grant Haye a rematch. you can't fake that sort of toe injury. to this day, i still can't believe the broken toe, because that really put a damper on the the rivalry between the Klitschkos and Haye. and really from the Klitschkos perspective, it is understandable that they are skeptical of Haye with the toe situation.
No. Haye is an even bigger disgrace and showed nothing in that fight or since that fight to warrant a rematch.
