Ah, but it is a competition of machsimo!

George Foreman once described boxing as the sport to which all others aspire because of its ability to bare your soul. Back when James Figg reignited 'The Noble Art' it was all about smiting men with single blows, coming back through a mask of blood, and appeasing the crowd.

That is the bare roots of this competition and will always apply; why Ali is loved, and why Mike Tyson is a legend.

As Bruce Lee said, martial arts is an expression of the human body, a language, and Wlad woefully stutters.

Boxing is so much more than stats.

You had better get used to the idea, because I think this is going to be the calendar year where he breaks the top 10 on a lot of lists.

You can sense these things somtimes.

That's what happens to people's spirits when they eat a hard hand or two. Are you new to boxing?

In 20 yrs ppl will look back at this era and think.....damned, 2 champions, brothers which was preceded by 50 champions in the 80s-90s and 50 more in the 2020s and 2030s.
Wow, for almost 20yrs, the K2 brand dominated boxing. So much in fact that the lone title to be held aside from a Klitschko was actually held hostage by the same guy who inherently cause the previous revolving door of titlists. But when the K2 shored it up.....they held it until retirement. :good

If Klitschko is that bad, at his advanced age of 36, why doesn't an Olympic gold medalist named Alexander Povetkin take Klitschko's title away from him? After all, Leon Spinks, an Olympic gold medalist, had only 8 professional fights when he lifted the professional championship title from another Olympic gold medalist named Muhamad Ali. In fact, I'd go so far to guess that Povetkin has even more amateur fights than Leon Spinks. Why doesn't Lennox Lewis comeback and take the heavyweight title from Klitschko the way George Foreman did; is Klitschko that bad? If Klitschko is so weak why are the supposedly future greats like Price and Fury wasting their time fighting nontitle fights when they could simply victimize Klitschko and take his belt away from him? Why didn't the super great David Haye try to fight Klitschko instead of run, flop and make excuses? After all, according to Haye, Klitschko is "utter garbage". If Klitschko is so damn bad why isn't anybody beating him or trying to beat him when they actually step into the ring against him? I'm retired, I need more time, my toe hurts? How can Klitschko be compared to any all time greats when the heavyweight division is choc-ful-a vaginas?

Good post, except those vaginas would be champion of the month in the 90s and will be so in the post K2 era.:deal

To say he'll never be a top 10 guy is kinda silly. What if he goes on for a few more years ?

Has anyone ever considered that the division may be so bad that Wlad's wins are meaningless?

    It's a possibility.

Agree w/you and Butch - good posts.

But you can't use simple logic w/K bro haters - I mean wft bringing up lil Mikey Tyson in other threads. A fighter w/this 2-3 year prime who never beat *1* ATG anywhere near their prime.

Tyson was washed up way before his mid 30s, but he was baaaaaaad and would beat Wlad easily :? What a bunch of clowns :p

Kind of unfair really, Holmes didn't have the best division to rule in and he is a consensus top 3 or 4
