The Baer fight is significant in large part because nobody did to Baer what Joe Louis did.

Even at his most disinterested, Baer had never been knocked down, stopped, or even appeared hurt in 48 fights. Louis put him down for the count. This is a huge testament to Louis' punching ability.

Baer still picked up some major wins after the Louis and Braddock defeats and climbed back up the ratings. The Comisky fight is one of his best filmed performances and a great example of Baer's straight right.
