Wladimir Klitschko is the true Punisher of Boxing

    Does anyone punish their opponents like Wlad? He plays with his prey like a cat, and he's nearly as difficult to hit with his footwork. He doesn't care about knocking opponents out fast, because he knows that given time, they will all fall. He likes to damage his man as much as possible before ending it. Ibragimov was a rare exception in that he simply proved too elusive to finish off in time. Wlad could have ended the fight against the iron-chinned Chagaev pretty much any time after the 5th, and it's obvious Chagaev was going down again well before the end of the 12th round. I don't know what to believe yet concerning the stoppage, if the ref stopped the fight after seeing the mood in Chagaev's corner or if Chagaev's corner told the ref it was over directly, but in any case, Klitschko completely took the fight out of him. Chagaev looked completely broken like everyone who fights Wlad. Wlad ruins pretty much every fighter he touches. They're never the same, and they rarely express a sincere desire to fight him again because they know they can't take another futile beating.

    Wladimir Klitschko is the real Punisher of the sport, and his repeatedly demonstrated ability to demoralize his opponents with constant hard, accurate punches of all types before finally knocking them out or making them quit supports that claim perfectly. You can't argue with an 84% knockout ratio. Sounds like a great Heavyweight Champion to me.

    I agree with the OP. Wlad brutalizes his opponents until they have nothing left, no resistance. Chagaev is an experienced, quality HW, and he was demoralized, reduced to shaking his head in disgust. Just like all of Wlad's opponents the last five years.

    The Wlad pre-Steward was the real punisher, we was like the Miguel Cotto of the HW division in terms of dishing out punishment to his opponent.

    wlad doesnt have killer instinct.....i think if valero even got one clean flush shot, wlad would be rocked....he is not the number 1 "punisher"

    Well, ike him or not, the guy has been at the top for quiet some time and will def. be at the top for a while. I don't see anyone beating him right now.

    I'm American. I don't know if I'm 'on his bandwagon', but Wlad's clearly the best HW of the last five years or more (other than maybe his brother).

    Yep, there are many more fans than haters in the American public. It's a very specific type of boxing fan on ESB that choose to hate him for reasons entirely unrelated to his performances in the ring. I'm also American and have always appreciated good talent of any nationality.
