Wlad no doubt is confident he can win, but then he probably thought the same going into the Fury fight who he also sparred with prior to their actual fight much like Joshua. Sparring is just that it can't prepare you for the real thing.

AJ has also improved since they sparred. He's bigger, stronger, moves a bit better, controls range better with the jab which he more consistently uses now. He also has developed a half decent pull counter. Wlad during this time has declined.

Both seem confident they can win but in reality this is a big risk for both fighters. Wlad's betting on Joshua being too green and not the fighter he's been built up to be and Joshua is betting on Wlad being shot or close to it.

Styles make fight and AJ matches up to Wlad a lot better than Fury did.. A lot better.

Wlad will look to catch AJ when they are coming together like he did with Pulev. Those opportunity weren't there against Fury who is too smart and too elusive. AJ is flat footed and moves in and out which is perfect for Wlad whose bread n butta is straight shots against lined up opponents.
Wlad is thinking his 20 years of experience will see him through.

It will be a great win for AJ if he comes through the victor. No ifs or buts about Wlad being past it. You could put Wach/Pianeta etc in front of him again and people would be saying he's the greatest 41 year old HW ever... Like they were saying about Vitali :sleep:

Wlad's won a lot of fights.
    He thinks he can win.
    Maybe he can win.
    AJ has never been tested.

The last time Wlad looked any good was 2014 against Pulev.

There was only 6 months between Pulev and Jennings.

Wlad looks bad or gets stopped when refs clamp down on his holding tactics.. Thats what happened to him against Jennings in NYC.

I'm a big Wlad supporter I think he's had a tremendous career. However the writing has been on the wall for several years now that he is in decline.
Is AJ good enough to capitalize I don't know. Good fight. Hard to predict. I think Wlad can pull a win out.

I thought you don't rate Wlad, hence it wouldn't be a great win for AJ?

    Stating the obvious here but...

A staredown way before the fight means nothing.

True. I do have my hopes that Klitschko will come to win not to sleep though.
