I thought the fight fell through, but i just read on the front page of klitschko.com an interview which said:

My next opponent: "I´m going to defend my title against the # 1 mandatory challenger of the IBF - Alexander Povetkin - in November. He´s very talented fighter, there´s no question about it, but still very unexperienced. That´s everything I want to say right now, the rest will be shown in the ring."

I definitely hope this is going to happen.

Why do you hope for this match...???...is this a good fight for WLAD, is this his biggest challenge, are you a Povetkin fan...???

I don't have a big problem with it, but it's another easy one for KLIT in my opinion.

  3. I hope this fight happens :yep it will be entertaining until Wlad stops him somewhere around the 8th round..

The most interesting fight to happen in the HW division at the moment (Wlad Vs Vitali being the exception)

I hope for it because it's the toughest opponent he can fight right now.

Chagaev broke his finger nail again, he's out for another year or so. Valuev is fighting Ruiz two weeks from now. Peter fights Vitali next october. So, Povetkin is the only one in the top5 left. Is there anything more to say? It's the best fight he can make! How can you NOT like this?

What up? Who do you think Wlad should fight. I mean Povetkin is an Olympic Gold Medalist is undefeated and is a tought sob. Wlad is once again facing another top ten fighter.

If the fight indeed happens in November it will be interesting to see if it gets on US TV as HBO is supposedly booked and the only date they have left open for 2008 is December 13th.

Wonder if Showtime will pick it up?

Wlad always fights on HBO and trust me HBO knows that Wlad brings n the bucks and has a good following in the usa and a huge following in the former Soviet Union.

...I see what you are saying, but notice all of the excuses you had to list...or reasons if you prefer.

All those things may be true, I dont' know about the fingernail...but it's always this way with KLIT.

...because of this, that, and the other, this is the only guy I can fight.

Never mind that before any of these guys had a match signed they would have gladly negotiated for a future fight.

I guess it's perfectly acceptable to wait for everyone to have a bout signed, and then fight the "best available." We won't agree on this so...about the fight...

...watching Povetkin step up in competition and fight Eddie Chambers showed me he has no chance against WLAD. I'm not into fights that are just a formality. Povetkin is not the man.

...btw, I asked you what you like about the fight. All you did was give me reasons WLAD had to take it. As a fan, I don't know what there is to look forward to about this. You said you hope this fight happens, why...???

Povetkin like Thompson and Ray Austin before him is a mandatory he has to fight Povetkin or he will be stripped. It is a decent fight.

It will be interesting as HBO has no open dates left in November. And they have already shuffled around fights for November once I doubt they will do it again.

Povetkin is the Eastern Block version of Calvin Brock...he has some credentials, olympics, nice little record...but he just isn't the guy to do it. I don't hear anyone picking Povetkin. The guy just isn't there yet, and it remains to be seen yet if he ever will get there.

...and fighting Taurus Sykes at this point is bullsh*t when you are about to get a title shot. What was he trying to do there, convince us he's not ready...???
A few years ago Sykes was at least half decent, some even picked him over Peter...BACK THEN. He has been considered far from elite for along time. I mean you go from upcoming Eddie Chambers to Sykes in your next fight. Povetkin's team knows he's not there.
